Great to see 2 new primate species at the park. What changes have been made to the South American Viva? Is there any other new species or any species been removed from what was there previously. Also, from the pictures i can see mesh enclosures. Is this the only mesh/not open topped enclosure at the park? What is the area like? Just curious about all this so wondered if you could share your thoughts.

The Amazonas enclosure covers the same footprint as the old South America Viva, and I understand that the previous inmates will return from their temporary enclosure near the hotel. The Golden Lion Tamarin pair were free to leave their mesh enclosure, but the Silvery Marmoset pair were confined to barracks for the time being. New huts, pathways and external wire fencing have been added, and the whole environment is improved. I also understand that they are planning to introduce Titi monkeys to Amazonas in due course.
Do the new monkeys have a decent sized outdoor enclosure then aswell and are the saki monkeys in there as i believe they were not near the hotel and i have been wondering the saki monkeys are.
Edit: Also, do the 2 new monkeys share the same enclosure or are they separate

Yes, the new monkeys have a decent sized outdoor enclosure, but I am not sure where the Saki monkeys are as they were not on view on the preview date in the Amazonas reserve and no mention was made of them by the keeper giving his spiel.

Has anyone else visited the new amazonas reserve? The app has been updated to include the 2 new primate species, however, the saki monkeys are not on the app and i believe are currently not on show. Also, why did the squirrel monkeys leave a few years back to be replaced by saki monkeys?
That’s what i was thinking, having the 3 small primate species in the same walkthrough area would be great and i’m sure the saki monkeys would love having that large tree to climb on!

Thanks for confirming this, even though the news is disapointing that 2 species have left the park. I only saw the Armadillo last month so didn't realise how lucky I was at that time! They were always really entertaining to watch, I'm sad that they've left.
Yes they were really entertaining indeed, i think that a move for the cotton top tamarins into amazonas would be great as then a new species could enjoy the cotton top tamarins current exhibit
Probably not what you had in my mind but I can't help but wonder if the current exhibit for the Cotton Tops would suit the Red Pandas better? I'm not a big fan of their current enclosure, not sure what else could go in that though.

Yeah i agree, i think the current cotton top tamarin enclosure would work better for a new group of saki monkeys

Fantastic news hope all goes well
Visited yesterday and there are a few things to note. First of all the sea lions are separated with dominic and his sons living in the larger pool and the 2 females Bailey and Lara in the smaller pool. I didn't manage to ask a keeper why but my best guess is that it is breeding season and dominic would probably be very persistent with them and perhaps they aren't breeding the sea lions any more.
The second smaller leopard enclosure has some boards up against it which must be for some extra privacy. Drake was very active in the main enclosure.
The giraffes are still separate with the 2 reticulated giraffes living together and the rothschilds giraffe on his own. There was new feeding posts put up in the into africa reserve. The Emu was a no show on both my visits to this area.
There are updated map boards around the zoo and all of the old signage has been taken down in lion country and replaced with new
Finally the amazon as reserve. This has now got to be one of the best enclosures I have ever seen. I wasn't too sure how the marmosets and tamarins would react to being in a walk through enclosure but it works so well. Both species were incredibly active and I think this is a great addition to the park. The Capybara and Agouti are back in there aswell. Just the titi monkeys to arrive and mara to move back in now. Also I did see a saki monkey in the off show area opposite the Meerkats.
