Yorkshire Wildlife Park Yorkshire Wildlife Park News 2023

Done some digging into the planning application for the cheetah exhibit and found this ‘Location Plan’.

Black - Pangea
Pink - Cheetah Territory
Yellow - Experience Ethiopia
Green - Point Lobos
Purple - Atlantic Forest
Blue - The Planned Gorilla Reserve
(Picture Attached)

However, what are the enclosures marked in red planned for, and why are they listed on here. If i jog my memory back, would i be right to say some of it was originally planned for penguins Does anyone have any information around what these exhibits may be.

Edit: Also just come across something, the old addax exhibit was planned to be the original okapi exhibit, but also featuring sulcata tortoise and rock hyrax.

Whilst the professional photographer was taking his preview photos today (16/08/23) in the new Cheetah Territory, it was possible for me to get this distant shot of the female from outside the enclosure:

So just to clarify here, probably= total speculation with no evidence or mention by the collection?
No i don’t believe so. But i imagine that the gorrila house will be on show to the public, and will probably contain some fish, reptile and amphibian species.

...Is that not made evident by the opening line of "But I imagine"?

Needless antagonism isn't necessary regardless of whether the original message is relevant or not. We're all friends here

Darcy the female Cheetah, as seen on the Gold Members' preview day (17/08/23). Brooke the first male has arrived, but not yet on show to the public.

Anyone who’s visited and seen the cheetah enclosure, what are your thoughts? Is it a good exhibit? Also, does anyone know if Brooke will be on show by Wednesday, if not, any ideas when he will be on show. Thanks

I've been - can't post the photos sadly as too new apparently! As per normal YWP the enclosures are big, really big - understand the male area alone is 6000 m². Great viewing from the path which is high above the fences so you see right in and the landscaping is looking good with high mounds, water and newly planted trees, when it matures should be amazing. Caves in each of the 3 enclosures which I understand have underfloor heating in them so should help with viewing on colder days. Houses for the Cheetahs look like they have plenty of space in them and nicely clad in wood. Overall the best I have seen and I have been to quite a few.
Keeper told me that Brooke is still settling and won't be out until the back end of the week so probably not Weds but can't wait to see him out in that area as should get some super shots.
