Yorkshire Wildlife Park Yorkshire Wildlife Park

I have a been to YWP three times and hope to go again this weekend. I've enjoyed it and have heard really positive comments from people there.

One thing I'm curious about is the publicity. I knew about it from this forum. I have spread the word and can think of at least 30 people who have been because they learnt about it from me, some of them live quite close and yet didn't know about it. I wondered if they were trying it out on smaller numbers and maybe working up to a blast of publicity for the summer (but now I've read your comment about good visitor numbers)

I am thrilled that it is there and can't wait for future developments.

I am quite happy to see how the YWP will develop and agree 100% with what YWPChris has written on the subject.

I hope that from within the zoo community full backing will be forthcoming too (viz Chester's tech assistance for a park up country)!

YWPChris is Yorkshire Wildlife Park already member of BIAZA? Any chance that it be accepted sooner rather than later into the EAZA membership (viz your zebra comment .. is that Grevy or more likely Hartmann's mountain)?

I admit feeling sorry for the residents of Hornisham in Wiltshire; to get into Longleat Safari Park, visitors have to drive down little lanes past various cottages, and it must be a nightmare on peak days.

Have you tried Marwell on the Grevvy's Zebra front?

about to say about marwell, They breed well and would have thought that they would have some surplas stock

Thats very well but animals that are part of breeding programme usually don't have many spare animals and there is usually a waiting list to hold these animals.

Although YWP may be doing a good job, its still has to work within these boundaries and in time they will recieve more species.

While I do agree with YWPChris on the subject that some of you were a bit harsh with your comments about the YWP and I dont think you should judge the YWP before you have actually visited the park, because the transformation from what it was into what the YWP is now, is absolutely fantastic, I do have to put right a few comments that have been made by ths person that are incorrect.

While I am sure that there were (and probably still are) a few villagers who did object to the park opening, I know the village of Branton as a whole was looking forward to it and did not place a petition against the park opening. Also they can't be moaning about the amount tourists and visitors trapsing through the village for the simple reason, the main entrance to the YWP was moved out of Branton long before the park opened.

Again as far as I am aware, while our Lemur Enclosure may be pretty big, I am positive in saying it isnt the biggest in the UK.

Also, while the owners (and a few members of staff) of the YWP did work at Woburn Safari Park for a number of years in various different roles, as you have already established they did not own the park, which is and always has been owed by the Duke and Duchess of Bedofrdshire.

I apologise if any of the comments from YWPChris have mislead you in any way and I hope you will still continue to support the Yorkshire Wildife Park.

Pictures on website!

Tink, the new male Ring Tailed Lemur arrived at Yorkshire Wildlife Park last week from Manor House Zoo in Tenby, South Wales, run by Anna Ryder- Richardson, former TV presenter well known for the programme Changing Rooms.

We will be hoping for him to breed with the YWP's exisinting 6 females, so hopefully little baby Lemurs will follow very soon!

Also, two of our goats gave birth to three very healthy, active and adorable kids last weekend!

Is this a different male from the one that was there the last two times I've visited, [25th May & 14th June]?

Is that another three or the same three that I saw nearly two weeks ago?
