When you not only spend time admiring certain animals in an exhibit but also looking at the exhibit in detail to see what other species would be suitable in it
Also having the excitement walking through the the entrance as you did when you were a child
Being a pain to your wife because you can't walk past a keeper without engaging them in conversation

People use studbooks for plenty of reasons outside of zoos. Domestic breeds of animal all have studbooks, for example. Clubs - like the American Kennel Club, for a well-known example - keep those studbooks.

In fact, the idea of a “studbook” seems to more associated with non-zoo contexts.
According to the New Oxford American Dictionary, a studbook is defined as a “book containing the pedigrees of horses”.
Likewise, the Wikipedia article for studbook redirects to the breed registry article, which is naturally almost entirely focused on dog and horse breeding.

You might belong or be on ZooChat if you are in a restaurant and you see burgers section on the menu and the first thing that pops to mind is the zoo in Arnhem, the Netherlands (it is called Royal Burgers' Zoo).
POV: You’re five years old and your dad gives you a balloon animal. Balloon dogs were the order of the day; but your dad’s @Zoofan15 and to make things interesting, he told the guy making the balloon animals that your favourite animal is the pangolin.
This was the result:
My review: A solid 7/10. Would have given a 5/10 for resemblance to the photo I provided; but deserves two extra points for creativity and for being far better than anything I could make.
My son’s review: 2/10. Should have been red and blue; should have been a superhero or a car. Do better, Dad.
For an on-the-spot balloon animal improv I'd say that's really good!
If you watch a cartoon and notice anomalies in the animals, rather than that they are wearing clothes and speaking English

Oh I do this all the time like in the Lion King with Rafiki being a mix between a Mandrill and baboon, being able to climb without focusing on how he is anthropomorphic and talks in English (and Swahili)

I try my best with him, but he’s way more interested in cars and superhero’s than animals.
My three year old son however, has been able to distinguish a cheetah from a leopard since the age of two and is obsessed with sharks and marine life. Future marine biologist perhaps?
When you play a card game themed around African animals and you focus not about the game you’re playing but that the cards got the names of both African rhino species mixed up. True story of mine over Christmas.
