You might belong or be on zoochat if...

If you don't know who Kenvin Garnett, Kobe Bryant, Tom Brady, or Derick Jeter is.

Or you're just not American. I know who Kobe Bryant is because I'm a bit of an Olympics tragic and I've only heard of Tom Brady (I don't even know what he does) because he's married to Gisele Bundchen. I've LITERALLY never heard of the other two. :)

There's an entire generation of people who I would like to ban from using the word literally because they think it adds emphasis rather than clarifying between metaphor and reality.

True that. I recently heard a sports commentator say an athlete running round a track fast was "literally on fire", obviously they weren't.

For all these years I thought it was just me who lurked in the rain, who wanted to cage the kids and sterilize the parents!
Who looked at a wonderful bio dome and wonderd how to fit one into a 10' by 8' shed (I'm still trying) Who looked as much at the layout of the exhibit to see how it worked just as much possibly more so than the inhabitants. JUST In case I get that lottery win I dream about.

When you see it's a treble roll over on said lottery and you buy a ticket with the zoo roughly planned out in your minds eye as you tick the boxes

I have spent my life feeling a bit of an outsider but on zoochat I feel at home.
Thanks guys:o
Dean

If you post over 450 times in less then a month.

Yeah.... No, really, that's just you. :D

If you have no social life, friends, or girlfriend/boyfriend.

Unfortunately, this might only be a few of us. I do have a nice social life, however no girl I've ever known has known what a quokka was without me telling them, which is why I've never had a girlfriend. :D

If you don't know who Kenvin Garnett, Kobe Bryant, Tom Brady, or Derick Jeter is.

I've never heard of Kenvin Garnett or Derick Jeter, but I do know Kevin Garnett and Derek Jeter.

If the first thing you do when you go home is check your email for ZooChat replies.

For me, it's YouTube. :D

*Hey - 1,000 posts! Finally! I tried to make this one meaningful (and not reply to anything silly), but when I spend all of my time in the Zoo Cafe, that most likely won't happen. :p

Congrats on number 1,000. I'm on 458 including this one. I guess that is just me and I probably should've used less famous sports people since everyone I listed I know about. How about these two:

If a lot of other zoo visitors tend to piss you off.

If jbnbsn99 has ever deleted anything you posted. Dude deleted half my Nonsense thread!! :D

Jbnbsn99 deleted the posts regarding politics. And no, usually only spammers have their posts deleted by him, anyway. Key word being usually (you know, when we get off-topic - oh wait, that's all the time :D).

Not speaking directly about you, but in general, this is more a sign that you DON'T belong on ZooChat.

...if you have no interest in seeing a thylacine.

"ThylacineAlive" has been a member of ZooChat for only 22 days and has already posted an incredible 500 times. That is more than probably 50% of the members have posted in their entire lifetime! Take it easy Tiger...enough with the incessant babble.

Actually only 498 including this one. Of course this comes from snowleopard, the person I've been looking forward to chatting with since I joined. Unfortunetly, a lot of my posts are incessant bable. I know my stuff, though. I'm just a young high school guy and I bet I could still hold up my end of a conversation with you. I had a very nice, long chat with a keeper at the Central Park Zoo today and he told my dad that I was very good with my knowledge. That's the first time someone in the zoo business has told me that so it made me feel good but you guys probably don't care.

I too am a high schooler who probably has said his fair share of bs over the course of being on here. You see number of posts as a badge of accomplishment, and I saw photos as the same. Be careful filling up the forums will crap. A few jokes here and there are okay, but it seems like the forum is becoming more and more a bunch of stuff that really isn't worth reading. Half the new threads aren't even zoo-related. To be honest, I probably wouldn't have guessed you were too knowlegable about animals, because the cast majority of your posts are just junk (not bad in moderation). Quality of quantity in posting my friend.

True. Except for my Nonsense Thread on Zoo Cafe, I would think all of my threads are zoo or animal related. Sure mabye the Favorite Animal at you Zoo thread and the Your Favorite Zoo/Aquarium Memories aren't that important but my Big Cats thread and my Javan Rhinoceros in Zoos thread both have taught me things I didn't know. That's really why I joined ZooChat, to learn. When I first joined I did see my number of posts as a badge of accomplishment but now I really just contribute. Yes, I fumbled on the Cryptozoology thread and that's my bad. Many of my posts resulted from being trapped in a NY appartment building for a over a week and having nothing else to do. I don't see how my pictures are a badge of accomplishment. When I posted mine for Beardsley and ZooAmerica I had not seen the rules jbnbsn posted about what's ok to post on galleries so some of my pictures were crappy and that's why they were deleted but I was more careful when I did the Smithsonian National Zoo pictures (trust me, I didn't post a lot of pics) and I'll be more careful when I post my Central Park Zoo pics as well. Sorry if I'm pissing anyone off.:(

Enthusiasm and sharing and learning knowledge is good. Your Javan rhino thread I think has become quite informative. I think that people maybe have been overwhelmed by the volume of your posts, but your post above shows that you are being thoughtful of other's opinions. There is a unique culture here and it seems that you are learning about it and likely will become a valued member of the community.

Thank you. Thylo out. Good night everyone. I'll keep your thoughts and opinions in mind KCZooFan.;)

This might be one of the crap posts you were talking about:o

if you dont go to sleep very late at night because you have to visit a zoo the next day.
