Yes it was!
I was fortunate to see Kakapo during my time in NZ. The one species I would still be prepared to travel like that to see- if it was possible that is- would be Spix Macaw. Always wanted to see one.
I bet you wouldn't turn your nose up at a rediscovered Thylacine or a Laughing Owl though![]()

You get annoyed when people take close up photos of the animals and don't take photos of the exhibit because you want to see what the exhibit looks like and get ideas from the layout and the plant choices.
You have a framed photo of a Rhino on your living room wall and ..
1. You know its a Northern White Rhino
2. You know its significance
(along with pictures of Dragon flies, toads and Mustelids!)
