You will believe a shark can roar: Zoological malpractice in Hollywood.

My personal interpretation was always that Louie was the pet of some rich landowner from the British Raj, who had escaped/been released but having grown up among humans had become humanised to the point of wanting to "be like us".

A very good interpretation, a bit to high-brow for Disney though! :p
I do like the theory, it sounds extremely plausible.

Well, you now have learnt how to waste 2 hours of your life.:p

Well just lately I've been watching a lot of crap films just so I can continue posting on this thread! :p

"Price check on a Great White in aisle 7"

Nanoboy, check this one out first. Scientists augment shark intelligence, and pay the price. It has Samual L. Jackson, so it's gotta be good!

I saw that one in the cinema. 13 years ago it was a fun movie. :D Looking at it now makes me laugh. I suspect that Bait will make me laugh at the first screening.

If this gets released in NZ I would go see it, why wouldn't you? It looks awesome.

I'll go and see it, could be quite entertaining. Like "Rogue".
Bait 3D is out now (in NZ, so presumably also in Australia). Go see it you two!

Speaking of The Lion King and The Jungle Book, there's also the raccoons and California quail who show up to help Snow White clean up the house. I know they never say where it's meant to be set and it's a fairy-tale so it probably wasn't even meant to have a specific setting anyway, but given the general "Medieval Europe" vibe and the story's origins they still feel somewhat out of place. :p

Nope. The cinemas aren't even advertising it as upcoming.

A dee vee what what? :D

It reminds me of the recent South Park episode where Randy buys a Blockbuster franchise, and only ghosts go to the store, because everyone else uses Netflix and Hulu to download movies online. This episode was too funny. Check some bits out here:

I this thread about shark movies? If so, then this one will be released in Australia soon. The story seems to be about people trapped in a mall with tiger sharks after a tsunami. Exciting stuff. :D

Absolutely awful! Haha. I haven't had a laugh like that in a while. Made my day.

The obvious inaccuracy here is the Pomeranian's death by the Shark. It is of common knowledge by now that the Pommeranian breed of dog in particular, has the natural ability to hunt, kill, and devour animals hundred of times bigger than itself, in the harshest environments.

I recently endured Mr Popper's Penguins and would like to know what sort of penguin were the birds supposed to be? I've seen CGI a thousand times now and the animators couldn't even bother replicating a proper species! Seriously, Happy Feet had better looking penguins!
Also, another thing bugging me was why use the ficticious "New York Zoo"? The film was sort of centred around Central Park and of course there isn't any possible real zoo close to that location... :p

It felt good to vent on this thread, not done it for a while! :D

They were gentoo penguins. The CGI wasn't great, but it wasn't that bad. What I despise is how the zoo guy is the "villain". The book is just as bad. Actually in the book they end up introducing a population of penguins to the north pole. Sheesh.

I've never read the book, going by your write up I assume that I won't be enthralled!
You could tell they were gentoo? I'm impressed with your ID skills! :p
And yes, the zoo guy being the villain and Popper then rescuing and releasing the birds definitely did not portray zoos in the best, how long would captive penguins last on Antartica? ;)

It's a good kiddie film but not really great from a zoochatters point of view.

they are a little off, but still quite obviously gentoos. I'm only going by movie stills and publicity shots though, because I dare not watch.

Apparently they are referred to as gentoo penguins in the film, I missed the reference but my girlfriend caught it. I really wasn't that into the film to be honest, you have the right idea about not watching it! ;)

I watch a show on TV called "Hollywood Treasures", which follows folks from an auction house that specialise in movie memorabilia. For example, in one episode, they sold Damien's outfit (from The Omen) for about 15k, and the witch's hat from The Wizard of Oz (1939 version) for 200k - yes you read correctly.

Anyway, in one episode, they found the last Jaws shark and was trying to get the guy to sell it for about 100k. This clip is not loading on my device, but I hope it loads on yours.

In The Lion King, when Simba is singing "I Can't Wait To Be King,", not only are anteaters in the wrong place, but you can see a gorilla when Simba says "Everybody look left!" It's not as bad as the anteater mistake, but gorillas are in the rainforest, not the savannah.
Otherwise, fantastic movie.
