Your Favorite/Least Favorite Movies in 2018 and What 2019 Movies Are Yo Excited For?

What did you think of the nod to the dancing in Spider-Man 3?

I thought that was hilarious. As I mentioned before this film is very self-aware of the Spider-Man property as a whole and it makes for some pretty funny moments.

I don't remember all the movies I saw/came out this year, but of the ones I actually saw, my favourite was probably honest-to-God Mamma Mia 2: Here We Go Again. Cinematic brilliance.

A Quiet Place was good too. And controversially, I don't think Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom was as bad as everyone says. Not good: but definitely the second best Jurassic film, and MILES better than the first Jurassic World

I didn't see Avengers Infinity War but it just kind of annoys me, as with all the MCU. Was the Greatest Showman this year? I hated that with a fiery passion, so I'll choose that as my worst.

Why didn't you like The Greatest Showman?

Not to parrot off of someone else's opinions, but basically everything outlined in this video.

Long story short, I don't care about historical accuracy, but when you glorify a literal slave-owner and make the altruistic charitable opera singer this evil man-stealing temptress, that I have issue with.
(Also, personally, the songs were bad and the songs were everywhere)

But now that I think about it, Andy Serkis' 'Mowgli' was my worst movie of 2018. It didn't get a theatrical release though (which, good)

The Greatest Showman is 2017. Personally I enjoyed it. It has a so-so story but that tends to be the case when your story revolves around all plot points being resolved through song. P.T. Barnum was a pretty terrible person in reality, yes, but I don't think this movie ever tried to portray itself as anything other than pure fiction. The complete utter lack of historical accuracy is a legitimate criticism, of course, but this movie never acted as those any of this stuff really happened and I viewed it as good fun. I thought the songs were fantastic, but if they don't work for you then obviously the movie isn't going to.

Best musical I've seen since High School Musical (which is the only other musical I've seen.)

I haven't seen it but listened to the soundtrack numerous times and they used the HSM formula with song types in pretty much the same order as in the original HSM. I cannot resist comparing them:

A Million Dreams - Start of Something New
Come Alive - Get'cha Head In The Game
The Other Side - Stick To The Status Quo
Tightrope - When There Was Me & You
Rewrite The Stars - Breaking Free
From Now On - We're All In This Together

I miss HSM! Hopefully the rumors that there will be a 4th movie will come true. Maybe it'll pick up when they're in college/or have jobs?

As for least favorite movies in 2018 I'd have to say Alpha. I was hoping it was going to have more prehistoric animal screentime than just the kid and the wolf. Also I didn't like Vice, but it has a nice soundtrack score that deserves a listen.

I'm looking forward to the Dumbo and Lion King remakes but I'm most excited for IT Chapter 2! So excited for more Pennywise!!!!

I really don't remember HSM enough to agree or disagree, but that is an interesting observation. I can't help but notice that you omitted a few other songs that appear in TGS that mess up the order, though :p

Well since the new Spider-Man trailer has been released I can now safely say it's in my top 3 anticipated movies of 2019. Endgame and The Lego Movie 2 are also now both up there! :)

Seconded! Far From Home looks like it's gonna be fantastic! I'm also looking forward to Captain Marvel. I found out that premiere tickets were already on sale, so I rushed over to the Alamo Drafthouse website. There were only about two or three seats left, got there just in time. I'm keeping my eyes out for the Endgame premiere sales date, I bet those will run out even faster. I'll buy at midnight if I have to!

Never thought I'd say this, but Hobbs & Shaw looks really entertaining. Definitely more exciting than any of the Fast & Furious that have come before! ;)

You're just interested because they introduced superpowers :p

The Super Bowl one? Yeah, looks great, just a tad on the short side for me..

Apparently the trailers for Endgame will only be using clips from the first twenty minutes of the film to avoid spoilers. They're really gonna keep us guessing! It's for the HYPE, you see.

I've decided I'm not watching any of trailers for any of the 3 MCU movies coming out this year (or for the new Godzilla) because I want to start going into movies knowing as little as possible. However yes I am very hyped for Endgame
