My name is Martin, and I've been lurking ZooChat for a few months.

I live in Central Florida, and have lots of good zoos at my reach, my favorite being Brevard Zoo. I volunteer here as well. My favorite animals are rheas, tapirs, and coatis. I also have a collection of about 18 animals, from short tailed opossums to regular dogs and mice. I have visited 31 zoos and aquariums, as of February.

I am still new to forums so I look forward to learning how it works, and meeting fellow zoo enthusiasts.

Hi Martin, welcome! Do you have a favorite tapir, or just tapirs in general? They became my ex's favorite after he first saw one at Toronto Zoo years ago :)

I'd love to know more about your animals! Not many on here own animals outside of dogs and cats, especially when it comes to mammals.
 
It’s always great to see another Floridian like yourself joining here on ZooChat, as a Floridian myself, I’m sure that you will have more than a good time just by simply being here. Also, since you mentioned that rheas and tapirs were some of your favorite animals, have you ever had the chance to visit Lion Country Safari near West Palm Beach; if not, they do have a South-American themed-exhibit in their drive-through safari that displays both species along with (Aldabra) giant tortoises, brown pelicans, a lot of wild vultures, alpacas, and (for some reason), marabou storks.
