Your own Collection?

This is my collection so far. Hopefully it will get bigger.

1.2 Neon blue gliding lizards (Holaspis guentheri)

1.2 Tropical Girdled Lizard (Cordylus tropidosternum)

I will be starting a breeding colony of Lygodactylus ( Electric Blue Gecko, Lygodactylus Picturatus, and Kimhowelli )

Along with Lygodactylus, I hope to have a couple of different species of Cordylus. The Tropical Girdled Lizards I have now, are the true Cordylus tropidosternum. I hope to get C. Jonsii, C. Ukinga, and C. berrraduci. Each have small distinct ssp. feature to them but still need to be breed to the specific species. I hope to get them as quickly as possible so there is no more in breeding between these species. Also, in the near future, I'm planing on grabbing a pair of C. Mozambicus and C. Rhodesianus. If I'm ever super lucky, I'll happen upon a true Armadillo Lizard (C. Cataphractus ), Giant Sungazer (C. gigantus), and other Cordylus species.

The big collection I plane on having will mainly feature small mammals, reptiles, and other unusual less commonly kept animals.

I would be very interested in Cavy type animals. Capybara, Mara, Rock Cavy, Paca, Pacarana, Springhare, Agouti, Viscacha, and Porcupines.

Other rodents would be: Dormice, Gundis, and Bamboo Rats.

I would love to have a couple of bats, Mainly Megabats, but I will take Micro too. I would want as many Armadillo species I can get, and tree shrews and Elephant shrews. Malagasy specific animals intrigue me as well. The most realistic I can get we these animals is Ring tailed Lemur, Ruffed Lemurs, and Brown Lemurs. Fossa and Malagasy Civet, along with a couple species of tenrecs.

I have a recent update on my animals. Today at 10:30 a.m. I will be getting 1.0 Neon Gliding Lizards and 2.0 Flame Bellied Girdled Lizards. I'll post pictures of these animals soon.

I've had them all since they were hatchlings with the exception of the tortoise. I spend most of my non-working part of the day caring for them. The tortoise is the most work, as I'm doing everything I possibly can in terms of diet and humidity to encourage smooth shell growth. He's grown a lot since I bought him and he eats like a horse. I even grow grass for him in a separate container. All have been very rewarding charges.
 
MY BIRD PARK

My current collection consists of :

I have a real passion for birds !!! and one day i will have my own bird park :D In my park i would specialise in Galiformes, especially Cracidae( curassows, guans and chachalacas).
I would split my park into sections based on the geographical locations of the birds:

There's nothing beautiful or exotic about it but my aunt and uncle love it to bits. It's one of the few wild birds in the USA that can kept as a pet since it's not a native. They let it fly around the house.

I don't know about "nothing beautiful about it". Sparrows are lovely delicate shades of brown when you see them close up. This is our house sparrow, Buffy, taking a nap on Chris's leg:

Sparrows are also packed with far more personality than their size suggests. They're "sparrogant" and very quick to voice their opinion if you do something they don't approve of ;)
 
In the future I would like to have this private collection. I would like to live on a farm, and the farm animals and larger exotic mammals would live in a barn. While most of the smaller mammals, dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, amphibians, inverts and fish would live inside the house. Although the birds, dogs and some of the small mammals would have access to outdoor aviaries and yards. While other ones like the skunk and cats would be semi-free ranging in the house. I would have a mega aquarium in the basement, rodents spread through the house and reptiles in the bed room:). A greenhouse would create an extension to one side of the house, holding butterflies. While the lemurs, koi carps and tortoises in the summer are found in the garden. Off course this would cost much money, and I think I would have to hire at least five people to take care of the animals, in adition to me and my wife. I would live in Germany or The UK, and I have tried to use animals that are legal there. I have also tried to take a little bit of each, focusing on mammals, and animals that are common and readily available. In stead of adding a few more animals I would like to have, like meerkats, coatimundis, kinkajous, racoons, hyacinth macaws, more pheasants, finches, lizards and saltwater fish. Here is the list of animal species and the number of specimens I would like to have in my private collection:

All those species are easily obtainable but as you have said you would need some staff for that many animals, these cost money as does the heating, the lighting, the waters supply, so I hope you have a highly paid job also added to that wish list :D
 
Looks good Norwegian moose! As stubeanz said this collection isn't going to be cheap. Besides a well paying job I would also recommend you consider focusing your collection as farm/business. Although a lot of these animals are expensive to keep, consider breeding some to be profitable. This would help you to at least offset your costs if not pay for it itself if done correctly. That is how I run my reptile collection, and that allows me to keep an enjoyable collection while still being a poor college student. Just something to consider.
 
My collection would be farm animals, easy to get exotic birds (zebra finch, parrots, etc.). and maybe a few small mammals (rabbits, degus etc.). It would expand as I got more money to include a native animals area and then a full-fledged zoo.

Actually my plan is to own a large zoo in adition to this private collection. In that way I could pay the costs of the private collection. Although owning and working in a zoo would take much time, so therefore I want to hire some people to work for me at home, in addition to my future wife;) I also maybe want to open up a bed and breakfast service at my property. This would make money as well. And I am considering your breed to sell some animals aproach. But nevertheless Im still dreaming yet. However I hope the dream will come true:)
 
If I had a private collection, I would make sure that all of the non-domestic animals that I would hold would be proven pure-bred specimens; not carrying the blood of related species or other subspecies; I would have the animals that I would hold DNA tested for this to happen. This way, it would be possible to have animals such as purebred Red Junglefowl and Lady Amherst's Pheasant in a secure state in captivity.
 
One day, I plan to open up a biodiversity sanctuary (take sperm [and eggs if possible] from different creatures and keep it stored.) Cloning is a real thing, and it is not perfect but it can be done. I would also like to keep a storage room for that genetic material. BUT to the question I would have a large variety of canids (FrightyDOG);
(non canid) a fossa (they are so adorable)
A small pack of African Wild Dogs
A breeding pair (for conservation) of Maned Wolves (they are hard to breed in captivity and they mate for life)
What are canines without a pack of wolves? 4-6 timber wolves to be exact
A pair of golden jackals
Rescue coyotes of red foxes (wild ones that intrude people's homes in America)
a pack of dholes
And an array of foxes such as fennec and bat eared :) I love the canidae family, but imagine all that meat? I do plan to own all of those one day. In a public research facility that acts as mostly museum with part zoo :P I don't like the ideas of zoos too much because of zoochosis. I saw a fossa pacing endlessly in its cage which is the size a small master bedroom. It was depressing to see such low stimluation at the LA zoo :(
 
When i am older (still in school) i plan to do a honours degree in biology. After that i plan to save for a while and then open a small educational zoo. I would hope to have a range of reptile and amphibians which would include a range of gecko species, bearded dragons, range of snake species, tree frogs and salamanders. I already have crested gecko. I would then hope to get some small mammals like marmosets, tamarins and lemurs (especially red ruffed). I also think an enclosure with capybara, rhea, tapir and mara would be very cool and i also would definitely have to have squirrel monkeys!
 
my private collection would be a green house with different butterflies
and some aviaries with birds like Gouldian finch (Erythrura gouldiae),
masked finch (Poephila personata),palm cockatoo (Probosciger aterrimus),
cockatiel (Nymphicus hollandicus),Chinese pheasant, (Chrysolophus pictus),
crested guineafowl (Guttera pucherani) and Madagascar lovebird (Agapornis canus).

i would also have banded mongoose (Mungos mungo),golden-headed lion tamarin (Leontopithecus chrysomelas) and black lion tamarin (Leontopithecus chrysopygus).
