Zoo animals you want to see but haven't yet

Yep, one of the last ones in the country. The others will be much harder.

Yes, I saw that one their last year. On an interesting note, doing some browsing for another reason and came across one at this place in Florida:

Bears

Doesn't seem to be the greatest place as they have Ligers and describe them as very rare and mythical.

Not sure where in Wisconsin you are at, but Manitowoc's Lincoln Park Zoo in Wisconsin has one.

I'll have to make a trip up there. They're the only remaining bear species that I haven't seen yet.

I'm assuming they're just saying that to attract tourists. They need funds to help keep their "math-doing" chimpanzee fed.

Eh, maybe. Some "sanctuaries" aren't really sanctuaries and they just use that name to dupe the general public into thinking its a good cause. Most actual sanctuaries I've seen that keep Ligers, very much talk about their breeding and the fact it is unnatural. That is what leads me to believe that this isn't quite so much an actual sanctuary. Would be perfectly pleased to find out I am wrong though.

I'm going the Bronx Zoo over spring break so I'll cut a fair amount off this list

This would be a very long list if I put everything (basically any carnivore or ungulate I haven't seen, plus a bunch of rodents and lagomorphs), but some of my goal species for the next couple of years are tayra, wolverine, any civet, dingo, aardwolf, bush dog, any badger, chital... also a different marine mammal (I've seen orca, bottlenose, beluga, and then the usual pinnipeds - harbor and grey seals, california and stellers sea lions, northern fur seal).

I've crossed two off so far this year - lowland anoa and male nilgai - and last year saw a fisher, ringtails, pronghorn, and american marten (among others). And I finally spotted an aye-aye in an exhibit.

I keep reading people's list's thinking I have seen most of what they want ,to see then I remember I am getting old now so seeing something new doesn't happen often now for me.

If I haven't seen it, then I would like to........

No need for a list....

If I had to choose one animal only, it would be Javan Rhino, but hey-ho.....

Most of what's on my list are fairly common in zoos, just not ones in my area or that I've traveled to :( I might have seen them when I was younger and don't remember. If my Ohio trip had happened last October, I would have seen all but the chital and a marine mammal.

Forgot koala, tasmanian devil, and platypus. I would have seen the first two in ohio, as well.

I think most of them wasn't ever kept anytime in a zoo. Some like oarfish are probably impossible to keep alive indeed.
