aha well played sir! Wild numbats indeed......Of course, depending on what the eventual concensus on Pecari maximus is, your monopoly may be stymied!

this thread has sort of veered wildly off course hasn't it.....
I saw a basking shark just outside the harbour of picture 2 in the latest guess the place competition, just a fin and a shadow because the water was like ovaltine

I would like to follow in Maguari's recent footsteps and see all three species of douc langur.
Completely off course, but while we're on this trajectory how do wild blue whales stack up to kakapos?
I do like blue whales and would love to see one* but it is just a big whale so kakapo still wins out over that (beaked whales are altogether more special, so they win over kakapo unless its one of the bottlenose whales because they are too commonly seen)DavidBrown said:Completely off course, but while we're on this trajectory how do wild blue whales stack up to kakapos?
clouded leopards aren't really Big Cats but if you're going to include them then I've seen all the Big Cats myself (including Sunda clouded leopard at Lok Kawi in Borneo, 2009)TeaLovingDave said:As already mentioned, in terms of big cats I only need the Sunda Clouded Leopard - fat chance there!

of those I have now seen exactly one in zoos (discounting the "etc etc etc"), namely western tarsier at Lok Kawi in Borneo, 2009.Chlidonias said:I couldn't list all the species I'd like to see one day because it would be far too long, but among them would be:
giant anteater
giant armadillo (well, any armadillo really)
yapok
hairy frog
Lake Titicaca frog
tarsier
aye-aye
otter civet
banded linsang
etc etc etc
I guess I should probably make reference to my original post in this thread, back in November 2008:

I think I need a more realistic list.....
well I'll see giant anteater at the River Safari in Singapore later this year/early next year. For armadillos and aye-aye I think I'll need to go to Europe. The others are a little harder....
perhaps. There are also lots of other nice critters in Japan. Probably armadillos as well I expect. And its cheaper and easier to get to for me. Tokyo it is then.
there's only forty cents in the petty cash tin. I don't think I'll get far on that.We need a decent review of Japanese zoos on here, just take the money out of the petty cash tin and we'll see you in 2 weeks.
