Two southern white rhinoceroses born at the Amnéville zoo will join Arcachon Zoo in March.
This zoo will therefore present three species of rhinoceros ! Blacks, indians and whites !

The
Southern white rhinoceros (
Ceratotherium simum simum) is already part of the collection. The two bulls that arrived to the zoo are called Patchi and Mosl and are already on adaptation to be displayed the following months.

Alongside this information, the park's website has had a few updates. The arrival of the rhinos will also coincide with a few more new developments. Most of the information I will display here comes from the zoo's
website map and the new
voucher PDF they have released for 2025.

A "Safari Zone" is going to be the big novelty the zoo will present this season. Two of the biggest enclosures in the whole park, points 30 and 31 on the map, will now be able to be traversable via a large safari-themed truck bringing visitors closer to the animals living within them.
- Taking into account what I saw in my visit last year, the first drive-thru enclosure (30) is the one housing giraffes, Somali wild asses, ostriches, elands, blesboks as well as the new white rhinoceroses. This enclosure will seemingly get a bit of an expansion.
- Point 31 on the map housed the zoo's common hippopotamus herd alongside a single forest buffalo and a herd of blue wildebeest in my visit, I also saw a few greater kudus in the handstand at the stables. This enclosure will be significantly expanded as it will be connected to the old cheetah enclosure and the whole forest buffalo herd will for now on live alongside the rest of the animals mentioned before. The old forest buffalo enclosure has been modified to make it suitable for cheetahs and thus these species have switched exhibits.
- A new species will apparently join one of these safari enclosures this year, the
Gemsbok (
Oryx gazella). No idea if the species is already present at the zoo.
- A new exhibit will be constructed that will seemingly only be able to be seen from the safari truck ride, right behind the hippo, buffalo and antelope enclosure, point 32 on the map. The zoo will once again house
Hamadryas baboons (
Papio hamadryas), a returning species for this institution. Same as for the gemsboks, I don't know if they are already at the park nor if the enclosure has already been built.
I notices a few smaller changes but these changes are the most significant I can point out.
