This is how the new rhino complex progresses: They laid the foundation in Spring 2021 and then started major works this last Summer.

This Spring or Summer the remodelled carnivore building (including a modernized nocturnal section) is going to open for the public.

I am very curious about the modernized nocturnal section, has a species list been revealed already?
 
The architects also posted some updates. Even though it may seem unlikely, these pictures only came out a few days after the video. So they are making some real progress now and you start to get an idea about how the new complex (the tower in particular, of course) will shape the zoo experience.

This actually starts before entering the zoo. While you used to see "towers", when you walked through the zoo looking outside - now you also see a tower when you approach the main entrance looking inside:

So the tower will still get a bit higher.

Do we know what species willbe kept in there, other than african lions, Amur tigers and Persian leopards? Also wasn't it supposed to be a night house too?
In any case, looking forward to it! I'll visit Berlin between the end of March and the beginning of April, can't wait to take a glance at their latest attraction

This means since the last time I visited the house, the species that left are rusty-spotted cat, meerkat (relocated to elsewhere in the zoo), dwarf mongoose and arctic fox, while red panda was added. Javan leopard apparently traded for Persian. Not a huge reduction of species. I was expecting either jaguars or leopards, not both.
Curious to see the end result.

Dwarf mongoose will be visible in the new house there was already a video showing them. On the other hand I don't think we will get jaguarundi since the last individual died a while ago. ZTL also mentions oncillas, so those are a possibility as well. And I still have got (probably futile) hopes for the Palawan bengal cats that left their (too small) enclosure in Alfred-Brehm-Haus last year.

Only a week left. I'll probably be visiting on the following weekend and can give you my impressions.

I couldn't agree more. At the time of my visit in 2014 there were fossas (which I saw) and corsacs (which I don't recall seeing) which were removed. I also om not a great fan of the red pandas arriving.

Berlin Zoo did not trade Javan leopard for Persian. The latter subspecies was already on site as a breeding pair here. Javan leopard happened to be an old male from a good few years back. Ad the stated policy has been to not have duplication in Berlin's 2 city zoos BZ stuck with Persians while Tierpark focus is on Javans.

Is there any hope whatsoever for the Javan leopard population in Europe?
