The plan is to mix them with geladas in the outdoor enclosure (hopefully the hyraxes won't be able to get out). Some artificial rock structures were built that will act as indoors for the hyraxes. They can be seen in this video.

Aaww, I must dash back in the new year and see what changes including the new Subtropical Gelada House will be there when I visit (I know they transferred around their polar bears and the uphill was somehow partially deemed unsafe ... so????)!

2.6, because there is no old group. Heiko lived alone for years.
The zoo posted on their socials a video showing two males that arrived from Herberstein on September 5th and the title suggested they arrived not so long ago. The six females from Zurich arrived shortly after them.
 
 
I forgot to mention some new things I learnt during my visit last week:
  • there's an exhibit being prepared for Blyth's hornbills at the Exotarium house.
  • the leopard cage is now empty and there's a sign telling the exhibit is being reconstructed. I don't know if the leopard is completely gone or not.
  • Domestic yaks have switched places with Przewalski's horses.
  • The Eurasian golden orioles are not signed anywhere anymore.

I assume with the leopard cage you mean the old Carnivora row right across from the path by the former (geriatric) Chimpanzee...exclosures? These exclusies (for lack of a better word) previously housed Sri Lankan leopard .... as well as the small chimpanzee group transferred up to Hodonin Zoo (and apparently not coming back now..., TBH ... thank goodness, the gelada exhibit is a much better option here and the zoo visiting public might actually learn a few things about these fascinating primates...)?!?

I wonder what happened with the Sri Lankan leopard (passed away/transferred out)?


Why move up the Przewalski horse to the up Yak exhibit (across from the American bison), where the lower part ... does have Mongolian/Kazakh Yurt and also species aligned with the Asian wild horse (Kiang, Bactrian camel ..., the Grevy zebra being the odd ones out). Yes, the traditional Czech Farmyard is nearby ..., just presentation wise, zoogeography and for educational purposes it seems not the most rationale move...! So how is that so?


BTW: Sorry I have not been for a few years and well ... progress has continued of course .... Things might be different than as I remember them...., so my observations and perspectives may be a bit dated how)?!

No, this is a separate exhibit. A part of it was turned into an aviary for green peafowls. I don't know what happened to the remaining leopard either.
The view at the Przewalski's horses is now much better. Their exhibit is between kiangs and camel enclosures. I believe it's the one that used to be occupied by zebras in the past actually. Though, it was used for yaks after the zebras were moved elsewhere. The bison exhibit is situated at a different path.
Zebras can be only seen in the exhibit with giraffes and antelopes, next to the African village.
You can check out the photos I posted in the gallery to see how the exhibits in question look now.
