Zoo Bucket List

Still waiting for my 200th zoo because of Covid19, and that could be either Chester, Budapest or Wroclaw (at least a big one).

Others are:
-Cincinnati, Toledo, Pittsburgh, Columbus, Cleveland and Fort Wayne or Indianapolis as soon as there is a chance (and the money) to visit the USA again.
-A zoo tour in Japan with the usual suspects (Ueno, Tama, Zoorasia, Kamogawa Sea World, all the big aquariums like Ring of Fire Osaka)
-Maybe the zoos and Safari Parks in China, specially those in Shanghai and Beijing.
-Sosto Zoo
-Madrid Zoo and Faunia Madrid
-Port Lympne and Howletts
-Moscow zoo and Moscow Aquarium
-Beekse Bergen and Ammersfoort
-Oklahoma, Sedgwick County Wichita and Kansas City
-Melbourne Zoo and its sister parks in Victoria
-Chattanooga Aquarium, Memphis, Knoxville, Nashville and St. Louis

After that, I can probably say I have seen all of the most famous zoos in the World (what will still take a little time...;))
I hope you will visit Budapest once... Collection of Aussies is very strong(Wombat, Echidna, Ground cuscus, Brush-tailed posdum and Western grey kangaroo). Non-Aussie rarities are Golden-bellied mangabey, Golden takin, L Hoest's monkey and Giant otter among the very rich herp collection. And the zoo's atmosphere is amazing!
Sóstó and Szeged almost as good as Budapest in term of rare animals

For years the top of my bucket list consisted of San Diego Zoo, Taronga and Perth. I visited the latter two in 2018, so San Diego tops my list now. I had planned a visit for May this year, now I hope to visit September 2021.

Narrowing it down to ten for my bucket list, I'd say:

1. Apenhuel Primate Park
2. La Vallee de Singes
3. Bronx Zoo
4. San Diego Zoo
5. Disney's Animal Kingdom
6. Endangered Primate Rescue Centre
7. Zoo Leipzig
8. Zoo Rostock
9. Columbus Zoo
10. Kansas City Zoo

Most of these are for ape exhibits and primate collections.

There's a lot of American zoos I'd love to visit, including the obvious ones like San Diego and Disney's Animal Kingdom. Also, I'd love to visit the Singapore Four, as they could easily be called.

My Zoo Bucket List:

- Bronx Zoo
- Central Park Zoo
- New York Aquarium
- Sedgwick County Zoo
- Australia Zoo
- Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium
- Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium

There is a slight possibility that I will get to go to the first three on my birthday.

Also, I forgot to add the National Aviary

Three in one day?! Might be a little rushed!

Right. I’ve just come over from the Damian Aspinall thread so I need something positive. I’ll give the bucket list a go:
  • San Diego Zoo (Obviously)
  • San Diego Zoo Safari Park (Again, fairly obviously)
  • Cincinnati Zoo
  • Nashville Zoo
  • Zooparc de Beauval
  • Yorkshire Wildlife Park
  • Knowsley Safari Park
  • Marwell Zoo (somehow haven’t been despite being not too far)
  • Paris Zoological Park
  • Zoo Berlin
  • Zoo Antwerpen
  • Zoo Praha
Basically many of the major zoos in the US and Western Europe as well as a couple in the UK I haven’t got round to yet.

Why Paris?

Platypus are quite easy to see in the wild if you go to the right places. Have seen them several times in Tasmania.

There are in fact wild ones that live in a river that goes through the Werribee Open Range Zoo in Melbourne.

Top 10:

(in no particular order)

Bronx Zoo
Perth Zoo
Singapore Night Safari
Zoo Berlin
Ohama’s Henry Doorly Zoo
Los Angeles Zoo
Columbus Zoo and Aquarium
Australia Zoo
Cincinnati Zoo
Disney’s Animal Kingdom

My list in going to be the most obvious ones since I’m a noob:

The Living Desert Zoo: here in my home state of California and the only thing stopping me is my laziness for a license haha

Columbus Zoo: the home of Jack Hanna and one of the areas I’m most eager to see is the Heart of Africa as well as Asia Quest

Bronx Zoo: a plethora of species and amazing exhibits like CGF and Baboon Reserve

Woodland Park Zoo: have been told to be one of the most “green” zoos in the US and would want to visit with my brother who is familiar with that area in Washington state

Toronto Zoo: perhaps the most famous zoo in Canada and closest to where my girlfriend lives currently

Nashville Zoo: a smaller zoo but seems to have all around great exhibits including one on my bucket list, Expedition Peru

Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo: keeps opening new exhibits every couple years it seems

Houston Zoo: Pantanal exhibit is making me drool over it from the photos I’ve seen, one that both my gf and I want to see badly together

Georgia Aquarium: perhaps one of the most photogenic aquariums I’ve seen from their social media postings and have big attractions like Whale Sharks

Monterrey Bay Aquarium: award winning exhibitions and the closest major aquarium to me besides the Aquarium of the Pacific
