Hi every1,
I was watching S4C (welsh channel) and i saw a brand new programe advertising "Swau Gwyllt Cymreig" which in welsh strictly translates as "Wild Welsh Zoo's" But "Swau" is Zoo's, "Gwyllt" is Wild and "Cymreig" is Welsh so we don't say stuff in the form u would speak in english. Anyway from the advert i saw this programe is only welsh and based at Mannor House Wildlife Park. Anyway i got wondering then how many ZooChatters can speak welsh! or any other celtic language fluently. I mean i was lucky, i was brought up in ALL Weslh family, i went to an ALL Welsh school and i didn't properly learn english until i was in year 4 (i think it is now). So i've created a poll. If u can speak any other celtic language please post it here.

Maybe this should be moved to the Zoo cafe forum.

Also why do people use text speak when typing on a forum it makes following what they have written quite hard sometimes.

I can speak little bit of Galician language, seems Portuguese, but not the same, spoken in Galicia (NW Spanish region)

I was made to learn Welsh in school... In one ear, out the other lol. I would have personally preferred to learn German or something but there we are.

I can read Welsh and just about follow a conversation , but am not a Welsh speaker . My father came from a Welsh speaking family but my mother did not so there was never Welsh spoken at home . Many non-Welsh speaking families now send their children to Welsh-medium schools because the standards of teaching are perceived to be higher .

There is a programme due to start on BBC Wales about Manor park, it could possibly be the same programme just in English, which would be the one i'll be tuning into, as they may as well be speaking Japanese or Mandarin, for what use Welsh is in my part of Wales.

This coming Wednesday at 8pm on BBC Wales is when it's going to be screened.
