Reading through some old Toronto zoo elephant threads Snow leopard stated that not every one looks through the gallery section.
It made me wonder what is your angle on zoochat i do both the gallery and the message boards but if time is short I just look at all the fantastic pictures we have. it's quite a resource really and has given me lots of ideas to display my own limited collection (See pet thread if interested.)

I generally stay in the General Discussions and Zoo Cafe. I also frequent the galleries and spend much of my time in the chatroom.

I go through these in this order:

New Comments
New Photos (although I might ignore if there are 11 pages worth)
Oceania forums
Offtopic forums
TV, Movies, Books about Zoos and Wildlife (in the Resources and Media forums)
General Zoo Discussion

I always just go new comments, new posts, new photos. That way I can see the the things I'm interested in and any arguments that have broken out.
 
I routinely use the New Posts feature and seldom even notice what forum a thread is on.

I very happily use the gallery but not in a systematic way. More often I'll go and have a look if I've been reading a thread about a particular place, am researching potential trips away or notice that a member has uploaded a lot of new photos from a zoo.
