Zoo Crawls?

But do they really count? If he is zipping in and out specifically for a handful of mammals and ignoring everything else at the zoos, that's kind of like going to a multiplex and swapping back and forth between cinemas so that you can say you watched five movies in half an hour.

I would agree with you, but I suppose it's up to GE to explain if he wants.

I personally would visit two small zoos in one day, but otherwise prefer to spend my time at one zoo. Some people like to visit lots of places in one day. Some people like to spend all day at one place. Both are fine.

I've been to Linton, Shepreth and Hamerton in a day a couple of times, but being familiar with the places and them being small and close together doesn't make it that much of a challenge.
I think I let snowleopard's adventures get to me when I visited Dierenrijk, Best and Zie zoo in one day this year though. I often have a flat spell at any decent sized zoo, like I was having at Dierenrijk, but instead of just chilling I rushed off to the other nearby zoos. No more rushing around for me.

As everyone's said, being familiar with a zoo in terms of knowing where things are always helps on "zoo crawls".
I've had a few multi-zoo day trips:
-Blackpool, Lakeland Wildlife Oasis and Southlakes.
-Wolds Wildlife Park and Woodside Wildlife Park.
-Blackpool and Wild Discovery.
-Paradise Wildlife Park and Ventura.
-Akamba, All things Wild, Exotic Zoo and Birmingham WCP.
-Exmoor and Combe Martin.
-Wild Place and Noahs Ark.
-Berkeley Butterfly House, Slimbridge, and Wild Place.
Wildwood Escot and Shaldon.

Living in the Southwest makes trips like these fairly easy, especially now I'm in Devon with the Wild Planet Trust collections, and may others near by.

I think we need to sort out a little "Zoo crawl" soon @Brum, I'm always passing by ;)

I think we do TNT, especiallt since you'll probably be up here before I get down to your neck of the woods... :p;)
Haha I think so, probably early December! Lets see if I'm brave enough to venture back to the Midlands, you brummies are something else ;):p

I haven't done more than two zoos in a day, I think it's harder to do multiple zoos in a day in North America considering the greater distances between collections. Anyways here are some of mine:

Shedd Aquarium + Lincoln Park Zoo
Pittsburgh Zoo + National Aviary
Ripley's Aquarium of Canada + High Park Zoo
Wild Life Sydney + SEA LIFE Sydney
I did another “Zoo crawl” today, although this one was by far the hardest as it combined one large zoo and one medium-ish sized one.

Fort Worth Zoo + Cameron Park Zoo: This was only really possible because I’m a fast walker who doesn’t take photos, although I could’ve used a little more time in the latter collection.

I have done various 'zoo crawls' in the UK, countless combinations of 2 from 6 Kent zoos for a start.countless other in pairs, Twycross & Dudley, but after a first visit most UK zoos other than Chester, Whipsnade & Colchester can easily be combined with another!
3 in a day:
Beale Park / Cotswold WP/ Birdland
Woodside / The Ark Boston /Lincolnshire WP

A dodgy 4 : Cedars Nature Centre / Ventura/Van Hages/ Linton

Theoretically you could combine Brookfield, Lincoln Park, and the Shedd Aquarium into a single day during the summer, in that order. May not be a fulfilling visit to any of the collections but given that the Shedd is open until 9 pm some nights during the summer it's doable, potentially even by public transit.

A much easier combination would be two or three smaller collections in the suburbs (Willowbrook Wildlife Center, Cosley Zoo, Wildlife Discovery Center, Phillips Park Zoo, Lord's Park Zoo, or Randall Oaks Zoo) with the Brookfield Zoo. This isn't really doable by public transit but by car it definitely is.

And as previously mentioned one can very easily combine the Lincoln Park Zoo, Lincoln Park Conservatory, and the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum into one trip and see everything at each location. I typically start with the zoo and end with the museum, but in my experience they can be done in any order.

Yes, but why would you? I usually spend an entire day at Brookfield (opening time - closing time), and the same for Shedd as well.

I've actually done that one before.
