Chester Zoo Zoo Days

So what did everyone make of the new series?

Good to see animals like the ants are getting a mention, although I still see Tejas being the star of the series...
 
That was way too quick!

Its alright but i would still like to see more from the "main" zoo animals!

Buts its only the first episode
 
I Liked th first episode and its nice to see the ruffed lemurs are getting a mention next episode. I'd like it though if some of the parrots got a mention.
 
Yes, me too, but I'm not sure whether disturbing them is a good idea!

Bring on the hornbills, tapirs, BoP and Pheasants, then I'll be happy! (It was good, but I'm a bit bored with this Tejas thing now! I like him, and I understand how important he is, but the Whole episode was Tejas, and the next looks to be similar!)
 
Hornbill, the next 2 episodes have tapirs on them if i remember correctly! One features the birth, the other features Zac's surgery. If you haven't read, there is also a bit on the female Red BoP's illness in an upcoming episode...

I want some more on the Orangs, considering they are the zoo's star attraction now. All they got last series was a 5 minute bit on the new exhibit...

I agree with the Tejas overkill (most of last series, looks like most of this series) however he is probably important to draw viewers in.
 
I'm quite enjoying seeing behind the scenes. On or two gripes.... it follows the recent trend in "Stupid TV" of showing you some things four times, ie what's coming up in the programme, what's coming up after the break, what you saw just before the break, and then the actual segment. Not to mention what's coming up in tomorrow's programme. I think even the leaf-cutter ants have more attention span than that!

Also, although the conservation message is important, it makes me cringe a bit the way the narration deals with this eg Tejas is "critical" to the species survival etc (and it's not a species it's a subspecies).
 
I noticed that too Pygathrix. The constant repetition is just a waste of time and makes me lose interest.

I know one member of staff who does not want to be filmed, he says he goes to the zoo to do his job and does not want to be distracted by a camera crew. This may explain why the same keepers and same animals are shown.

The ants were a nice change, perhaps they'll show the jaguars soon.

The 14th March episode will be different, the review says Patna plays football.
 
Could anyone tape them from Monday (10th) to the wednesday (19th) for me?

I'll be in France during this time (also be going to Antwerp zoo)

There is no episode of Zoo Days on 21st March, and I expect on the 24th also.
 
I imagine that's the series over then. :( They could have warned us! But it makes sense thinking about it - there would have been 2 odd episodes left after they missed Good Friday and Easter Monday, so it seems right that the series ends on a Tuesday. I always thought that Alan and Tejas would part ways in the last episode too.
 
I don't think so, there was a camera crew at the Zoo yesterday (I saw them shooting the Przewalski horses and the tapirs with their keeper). I presume they were from Zoo Days.
I wonder if they pulled today's planned episode because of developments at the Zoo. I missed yesterday's instalment (traffic delays on the M56) - what was trailed? For example, as the giraffe house was closed I wonder if the little giraffe calf could be be in trouble?

Yeah, I don't think it is the last, there was also a crew on my visit shooting the guanaco and rhea. And I also remember reading somewhere that Chester's series would run until June and then Colchester's until August...
 
Yeah, when i visited chester last tuesday 2 people were walking around the zoo with a camera under a plastic sheet as it was raining and the looked as if they were in a hurry to get some where.
