Has she had any calf yet? If not, she's probably too old on the first calf. I hope, however, that it will be successful, and in a few years will bring a cute calf into the world, but that would be genetically valuable, because neither Tutume nor Thandi have any genetic representation in North America!
 
From what I can tell no she has not had a calf. She was with prolific bull Jackson so it wasn't like she was previously with a non breeder. She may be too old which is likely why the SSP was willing to ship her north so Granby could meet the 3 elephant minimum. Even without a calf she will help out in Granby for social purposes. Plus if she lets Tutume breed it will help him learn what to do and possibly then be more useful down the line. A surprise low likelihood calf isn't bad either.

But it is also possible that she could have some calf because it comes from Africa. All I know is that she had a calf in Africa Seeni. Thandi and Sukiri were not much talked about. Let's be surprised.

In 2011, three elephants were acquired from Botswana by the Fairhope Conservation Center - Thandi (born 1991), Sukiri (born 1993) and Seeni (born 1993). Seeni had a calf in Botswana, she refused. The second calf gave birth in 2017 in Pittsburgh. It later died, because it refused him again. However, it is possible that the next calf will not refuse, as it may have more experience. I don't know much about Thandi and Sukiri and their life in Africa. At Seeni, I learned about the calf in Africa only when the calf was born in 2017. So it is possible that if Sukiri and Thandi calf ever give birth, we may know that they have had some in Africa.
 
The zoo will be receiving two adult male gorillas from Philadelphia Zoo at the end of the month. From Philly:

"It is with mixed emotions that we must say farewell to two of Philadelphia Zoo's most popular residents - male silverback gorillas, Louis and Kuchimba. Although we will greatly miss Louis and Kuchimba, we are heartened and excited about the new adventures they will share together at Granby Zoo in Quebec.

Louis and Kuchimba are moving later this month after a recommendation from the Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA) Gorilla Species Survival Plan (SSP). At Granby Zoo, Louis and Kuchimba will be joining two other male gorillas for a richer social environment. Meanwhile, our family group will have more versatility in where they can roam and explore year-round.

If you would like to say farewell to Louis and Kuchimba, we suggest visiting on or before Presidents' Day."
 
At the request of the government the zoo has announced it will be closed as of March 14. Whether it will open will be reassessed on a week by week bases.
