2 weeks ago, Paris has send the female hippo Pelagie to Zoo Hannover.
Is the male hippo Rodolphe still live in Paris? Or has he be moved away or died?
 
Both animals were supposed to be sent to Alger. But it was not possible because the female hippo was too afraid... Don't know if the male was eventually sent to Alger or not.

I would presume the Zoo d' Alger, Algeria deal fell through. Hence, I do hope they will find a good home for the male hippo within the Hippo ESB.
Incidentally: did they ever consult with the Ostrava Studbook Monitor?
 
it must be painful being a parisian, however i hope after the renovation is progressing (any info on that front), as i am planning to visit the zoo after it has been renovated:)

There is a wrong translation. The article in Le Parisien says "there will be NO MORE elephants or bears" NOT "more elephants or bears". (Sadly, I have to say. Wasn't it possible to get more space for the zoo? Afaik, zoo grounds in Vincennes are within a park area. So they have - at least in theory - the chance to extend.) Also: A capital city without elephants, big bears and tigers? Hmh...
 
I have searched the web and found a map of what the zoo will look like after the renovation including species but it is in French. Most of the names are similar to English.

It's been a few years since I've visited, but jardin des plantes is in a park area (jardin des plantes meaning garden of plants, as you know) But as far as I remember there isn't much free "green" space around bois de vincennes.

I think it's sad too they don't really have many typical zoo animals, but on the other hand. who knows what the future brings. after all, no zoo is ever done renovating and opening new enclosures, they'd be out of customers soon.

Thanks for uploading the map - very interesting. Given the choice of 'Lynx d'Espagne, ou d'Europe' I definitely know which one I'd prefer to see!
