Zoo Děčín Zoo Decin news

This must be one of the last "major" zoos in Europe without a thread here.

To start it off, 2 fishing cats have been born.
 
Zoo Děčín has obtained two species of Birds of paradise. There is one male of King bird of paradise (Cicinnurus regius) and three animals of another species. I think it is Magnificent Bird of Paradise (Cicinnurus magnificus) - one male and two females. They are in free flight aviary.
 
@Marhi did you visit and find this out yourself, or find this elsewhere online? The magnificent birds-of-paradise would be a very interesting new development, as it would be the only European zoo where that species is on-show... Did you take any pictures? :D
 
Yes, I visited the zoo some days ago and I found them :-) I am not sure with ID of Magnificent Bird of Paradise, they dont have sign for them. I am sure with male of King bird of Paradise, he was exhibited during bird exhibiton in Lysá nad Labem (Czech republic) in 2017. Zoo Děčín obtained this male. Zootierlist also has this species on the list: www.Zootierliste.de

Another species is also from private breeder.

I will send some photos here as soon as possible and I am also going to make another visit of the zoo next week :-)

The ID is 100% sure. The photos are not so awful in my opinion, while not the best photo of each species, the pics are sharp and the species is very clearly distinguished.
 
Zoo announced death of female grizzly bear Helga. Zoo won't obtain new grizzly bears, they want to switch to Kamachatka or Eurasian brown bear.

Hoping for European brown bear, a central European theme for European carnivore conservation, including also Carpathian lynx, European wolves ..., wolverine ... and European mink and the like. About time Europe started taking its carnivore fauna more seriously and less in the light of the usual "sheep or LRR killer" myths bandied about too much.
 
2 Varis were born on April 1st or before. Also, in March 27th the zoo announced that three red necked wallabies were born during March.
The baby Mishmi Takin is a female and has been named Corona.

The newly built area for cold area animals has three parts. First is aviaries for Great horned owls and Great grey owls (they already live there), second one was built for Mountain goats but instead it now serves turs, third part is for wolverines (waiting for arrivals). I still hope they will source Mountain goats instead, they are my favourites and they were also advertised with pictures when they were building this exhibit...

If the mountain goats arrived where will go the turs (a nice and near threatened species) ?
Are there empty enclosure in Decin at the moment ?
