Zoo Exhibits in 2021

The zoo has been revamping their needed areas and the Children’s Zoo was in dire need. The next area is Asian Passage for sure and I do actually like the Sun Bear Forest exhibit yet that may not be fruitful for the future due to the Sun Bear SSP, perhaps repurposed for another bear species!
And the urban jungle as someone said earlier and the last of the horn and hoof mesa, its very out of place, and some of the exhibits need work.

I liked the old one but I’m excited what it’ll look like and what species will be in it.
None of that has been yet confirmed so far, even the species to be at the Children’s Zoo aren’t completely confirmed. They change often as with any exhibits for a multitude of reasons, I’m excited nonetheless :)

I haven’t even been to San Diego but I’ve been so interested in it. I was going to go in 2020 but one little virus ruined my whole trip.

Hopefully the second phase of the Elmwood Park Zoo’s majestic predators exhibits will open. Currently under construction is a new exhibit for their North American River Otters, a crayfish pool, new exhibit for their Bobcat, and a rabbit habitat.

I went to Elmwood a few years ago and I only remember the meerkats but I’m hyped none of the less.

So have tigers left the zoo?

The zoo's last tiger, Pavel, was sent away sometime in 2018 (I have a photo that shows African lion Sahar inside the former Amur tiger exhibit - after the tigers left the zoo gave the lions access to both exhibits). There are no plans, as far as I know, to bring back tigers although zoo president/CEO (and former director) Kevin Bell said that they might bring them back in the future, although that's uncertain.

I think @birdsandbats asked this, but this thread is not just for US exhibits. Any are welcome. I just used US exhibits since I'm more familiar with what's going on there.

Not mentioned here yet but at least for the UK, the Latin American walkthrough aviary is due to open in Chester this spring on the site of the old flamingo enclosure (the flamingos will be part of the new aviary still).

This isn’t an animal exhibit but the Brandywine Zoo is going to build a new quarantine facility and animal hospital in 2021. Unfortunately no animal exhibits will open in 2021, but they have a big one opening in 2022. :)

Fingers crossed everything sticks to their plan!!

What is the precise species line-up planned for this new aviary?

I can't remember exactly but I know it includes Caribbean flamingo, scarlet ibis, roseate spoonbill and some other smaller birds.
