Zoo Leipzig Zoo Leipzig news 2018

Am I not right in saying there is only one Sumatran Rhino in captivity in Malaysia and probably zero in the wild?
I think last year there were still three at the centre in Sabah. Although they were declared extinct in the wild in Malaysia in 2015, the press releases in 2017 were still saying "thought to be extinct". There are still animals in Kalimantan apparently, so perhaps individual animals being found in Sabah still isn't out of the question.

One died last June, so it should be two now.

Unfortunately Malayan tapir female LAYLA had a premature birth two weeks ago as a result of a infection.

The first South America part will open at May 17th including:

Great to see that Leipzig still hasn't fallen behind when it comes to the more unusual species.

Though the zoo's website has feeding times listed I'm not taking any chances and will be heading straight for the pangolins to check their feeding times from TeaLovingDave's advice.
