Zoo Leipzig Zoo Leipzig News 2019

The video of feuerland shows briefly a red macaw, but wouldn't burrowing parrots or patagonian conures be more appropriate?

Female Eastern black rhino NANDI (* in Leipzig in 1999, JASPER x LIPSI) was shipped to Twycross Zoo yesterday.

Several Kissing gourami hatched at Gondwanaland in the great False gharial bassin.

The little elephant bull (born 01/25 to NAING THEIN and HOA) went to the outdoor enclosure today for the first time together with his 'aunts' DON CHUNG and RANI. His mother is separated from him, she became too aggressive and tried to attac her son.

The zoo director announced that 9 years old elephant cow RANI is expecting her first calf in spring 2020. Sire is VOI NAM.

A new male Scimitar-horned oryx arrived.

A further Kirks Dik-dik was born.

Two Bearded emperor tamarins were born.

The elephant bull, born 3 months ago, is doing fine and is just recovering from a hernia surgery. Is is active and had its first offical bath in the outdoor enclosure last week together with his 'aunt' DON CHUNG.

Two koalas (1,1, born 2017) arrived from Australian Reptile Park in New South Wales last weekend.

From the photos in the press release - why do they seem to have imported both a Southern Koala and a Queensland Koala? Are they planning to exchange one individual for a mate for the other in the future? Surely they aren't intending to try and breed from them as a pair?
