Zoo Miami Zoo Miami 2011-2015

Zoo Miami is hosting an "exotic animal amnesty day". Exotic pet owners who no longer want their pets will be able to turn their animal in to the zoo without being penalized, even if the animal requires a license that the owner doesn't have. They're doing this to discourage people from releasing their unwanted exotic pets into the wild. The animals will then be put up for adoption by registered adopters. (it seems they even have registered adopters qualified to own the bigger exotics like tigers) I think this is pretty cool!

I think it's a good idea but I have the nagging thought that this will just encourage the keeping of exotics, especially if this event is done regularly. People may think that they can buy baby animals and then when they're too big just get rid of them or buy a pet and try it for a week then when they're bored of it give it away without getting in trouble at all. So I don't think this really works to be honest.
