the zoo had posted a video for world hyena day recently so according to that video they should still have at least a pair of Spotted Hyenas. shame about Asian River Life, its a bit surprising as when I had visited in March all exhibits were filled, with the 2nd Asian Small-Clawed Otter habitat being converted to a Painted River Terrapin habitat, so hopefully its just temporary.

Man, every time I go to the Zoo the Hyena's are never there. It's like they are perpetually off exhibit or they are hiding inside of the moat of the habitat.
I would have liked to experience the Asian Riverlife exhibit as I have only started going to the Zoo in Late May and the exhibit was closed by the time I got there

Visitors have a higher chance of being struck by lightning on the spot than they do of seeing the zoos hyenas. In my many visits over the last few years they were not once ever out.

How ironic that I bought a Hyena plushie at my second trip only to never have seen the actual animal lol

Asian River Life was closed due to structural issues with the Asian small-clawed otter exhibit from 2020-2022. Wonder if it's a nagging issue.
 
On another note, is anyone concerned about the wellbeing of the animals that will be put in the rotational exhibits they are building in front of the Sami Family Amphitheatre?
The Amphitheater has very loud speakers, I could hear the music they were playing all the way from the exhibit where the Siamangs used to be.
My concerns are that the animals on the rotational exhibits can be stressed out by the speakers, or even get hearing problems from being so close to the Amphitheater.
When I pass by the entrance of the Amphitheater, I keep hearing an animal that sounds like a Parrot screaming its lungs out. I hope that it's not screaming due to stress caused by the Amphitheater. Or maybe Idk that is just how the animal is. It's off exhibit in the construction zone so I have no way to investigate.

On August 27th, the zoo announced that 8 Texas horned lizards hatched, marking the first time the facility bred the species successfully, and will be released into the wild in the future.

On July 4th, the zoo announced they opened a new maze area between the hyena and Addra gazelle exhibits in the Asia area.
