San Diego Zoo Zoo News 2013

on the page for the new lemur exhibit they had this list of animals
Seven species of lemurs, including four that have never been exhibited here before: the blue-eyed black lemur, mouse lemur, aye-aye, and collared lemur
red ruffled, sifaka, ring tailed.
A habitat for fosas, Madagascar's largest native predator.
Looking for Lemurs? They Need a New Home!

so i guess this is probably 8 of the roughly 50 species being added to African Rocks

So right now they have (roughly): fossa, bat eared fox, coatimundi, kinkajou, caracal, puma, Siberian lynx, snow leopard, jaguar, Amur leopeard, puma, Chacoan peccary, warthog, Siberian musk deer, yellow-footed rock wallaby, New Guinea singing dog, African wild dog, & striped hyena all in this section. Some of these animals are going to be reincorporated, others moved. I'd say there are going to be more species on display with this addition. When's the last time SDZ did that?

I took pictures of this area today because I want to remember what it looked like. The coatimundi and kinkajou are no longer on exhibit but there is a Southern Ratel and a Bush Hyrax. The female African Wild dog passed away and the male was sent to Phoenix; in the old exhibit is a Desert Bighorn.

Orangutan Indah: Think Pink
I don't think this has been posted yet. All the regular zoo goers suspected Indah was pregnant for quite awhile. Now that it's official the volunteers can talk about it.

I was just perusing the Zoos website reading about Africa Rocks. I was amazed to see Rady Falls and how it will feature west african dwarf crocs. cheers to SDZ for shedding light and putting these guys and other smaller crocs in the spotlight.

Check out the national zoos facebook page tomorrow morning at 9 am to find out if Gao Gao fathered their panda cub. I think he will be the father and it will be another girl for him.

The cub is, indeed, a girl and, it seems, the cub's father is actually Tian Tian! It appears the still born cub was also a girl and her father was also Tian Tian!
