Chester Zoo Zoo News 29th March 09

ISIS is missing a female. I posted about this last year when the holding for Chester showed 3.3 and I wondered where one of the females had gone. Several people said it ought to have been 3.4

This is just a revenue generating exercise, its happening more and more, and while I get the fact that the space should ideally be used for the animals, but in the current financial world times are hard so if 100,000 people all paid £3 for a game of crazy golf during the season then hey presto, money which can then be invested in animal enclosures and conservation, a small sacrifice for a greater gain, could be worse, they could have model dinosaurs!!! :p

Well stone me! (to quote the late, great Tony Hancock).

I checked the planning application to see if the opening date was April 1st.
Now I want to double check the masterplan to see what I missed in the Natural Vision setup. Will there be a the ski jump next to the gorillas? A high diving pool between the camels and the meerkats? A curling rink alongside the zebras? Clay pigeon shooting . . . I think I'm losing the plot here :rolleyes:

Glad to hear he found a nice new home. Now I just have to find out where his brother Falco has been sent to.

Fabi was born during the night 25./26.5.2007 to mother Madalen and father Dustin.
 
does anybody agree with me that the lion an tiger enclosure should be changed from bars an wire to clear renforced plexiglass.

No.

At the moment, both big cat enclosures can be seen from all over through mesh. Replacing the mesh (which to the cats is a mental safety barrier from the strangers outside) with glass, could cause large amounts of stress.

Also don't forget, the costs to produce such a large amount of plexiglass would be astronomical!

A window (like the tigers) would be acceptable on the lion enclosure (in one corner)

I concur, what is it lately with people having a pop at the enclosures?

They are some of the best I have seen in the UK.
 
does anybody have any ideas on how there going to move the chimps to the new enclosure once heart of africa is completed?
