While researching this zoo, I found out that there is an ambitious renovation project that will cover 3.6 hectares (almost 9 acres) of the grounds. It will include moving some farmyard buildings, the butterfly house to be expanded into a South America House, penguin exhibit enhancements, and a long list of other improvements. There will be a new walk-through aviary, a new aquarium and many other changes to the grounds. I know several zoo nerds that have visited this attraction and it would be nice if there was a local visitor who could keep us all updated.

The link below contains a lot of information, as well as a few renderings of the big project:

I have been to this Zoo and it is a nice medium sized Zoo with Highlights including River Stingray, Piranah, Giant Pangasius, Cuviers dwarf Caiman, Burmese Python, several Flamingos, Pelicans, Humboldt Penguin, Blue and yellow Macaw, Marabou, Ibises, Yellow billed Stork, Cotton top Tamarin, Banded Mongoose and brown noased Coatis. I hope to visit this Zoo again when they have opened their new Animal Houses and Enclosures.
