Zoo radius search - Do you know all collections around you?

I thought about bringing up how 50 km (~30 mi) is a pretty small radius for some of the Americans :p I've lived in places where there are almost no collections for over 100 km...
Yeah most of the zoos I'd consider close to me do not fall within the 50 km radius.

Is it possible to edit the zoo radius search as Brean Down bird garden closed some years ago.

I have quite a large amount of collections in my radius (24!) and I've visited the following:
  1. Blue Planet Aquarium
  2. Chester Zoo
  3. Greenacres Animal Park
  4. Liverpool World Museum
  5. Knowsley Safari Park
  6. Manchester Museum Vivarium
The rest are mostly farm parks and falconry centres. Biggest misses for me would be Manchester Sea Life, Reaseheath College Zoo, Bolton Museum Aquarium, and Martin Mere Wetland Centre.

Yes, I'd say I'm fairly familiar with the collections close to me - the ones in bold are the ones I personally requested to be added on Zootierliste.

1. Aviary in Skive's town park: Very often go for a walk there as it's only a couple of km from my place.
2. Aviary in Balling's town park: Occasionally visit.
3. Æblehaven: Village green with aviary. I actually only visited back when it opened in 2021.
4. Jesperhus: Visited regularly as a kid, but it's quite a few years since I last went. The place is part amusement park and becoming increasingly toddler-targeted every year, and the zoo area was thoroughly dumbed down 10 years ago to promote some children's TV hosts. Even though it's actually the only licensed zoo within 50 km of me, I don't really think it's worth the money.
5. Hjerl Hede: Open-air museum with some old Danish breeds. Occasionally visit.
6. Aviary in Vinderup's town park: Occasionally visit.
7. Skarregaard: Farm museum with some domestics. Have visited once.
8. Den Jydske Rosenpark: Rose garden with a couple of aviaries. Have visited twice.
9. Hald Ege Miniregnskov. Non-licensed tropical zoo. Occasionally visit.
10. Limfjordsmuseet. Maritime museum with a couple of fish tanks. Have visited once.
11. Boldrup Museum: Farm museum with some domestics. Have visited once.
12. JyllandsAkvariet. Small, native-species aquarium. Have visited a few times, though it's several years ago I last went.
13. Nordisk Dyrepark. Small, non-licensed zoo. Occasionally visit, though I haven't visited since they changed their name and got new owners (the place's name used to be "Hobro Mini Zoo".
14. Nordsø Akvariet. Small, native-species aquarium. Have visited a few times, though it's several years ago I last went.

I have a grand total of 36 collections in this area, 12 of which I have visited. They are as following:
1. Eagle Heights Wildlife Foundation (I haven’t visited since the Cheetah arrival).
2. Hemsley Conservation Centre, a nice sight definitely worth a visit, with species like Echidna and Brazilian P-T Porcupines (which they are successfully at breeding).
3. Godstone Farm (Primarily event themed but also great fur young children).
4. British Wildlife Centre, an amazing site with great educational talks (including a hedgehog one) and many different amazing native species.
5. London Sea Life, went pre-covid, small enclosures (especially fiord those poor penguins) but okay from a fish perspective.
6. Hanwell Zoo, a nice variety of non-ABC animal species, like Moon Bears and Arctic Wolves.
7. Hobbledown Adventure Farm, once more very Child Friendly, definitely worth it if you have children with you. Small Collection, mainly made up of Domestics or old pets.
8. Leeds Castle Birds of Prey Centre, Nice site with a nice collection of raptors.
9. WWT London Wetland Centre, go there about every other weekend, amazing site fir birdwatching and probably the best Asian small-clawed otter enclosure I have seen.
10. Kew Gardens, no idea why it is listed on ZTL?
11. Sea Life, Southend on Sea, nice amount of fish and alright tanks.
12. ZSL London Zoo, need I say more.
(Favourites in Bold)
@Kalaw, it seems we have very similar, if not the same lists :p.

EDIT:
It’s interesting to see that if I increase the size of the range by 25 Kilometres,(the amount I’m normally going to travel to see a collection by car), the facilities included doubles in size.

Cedars Nature Centre and / or Cassiobury Farm and Fishery, both solely for the sake of seeing a Zorilla (hence why they are interchangeable, although the presence of Sunda Porcupine and Plains Buffalo would make Cassiobury a preference).
I never knew these species where this close to my doorstep, I will have to give these collections a look, especially with Zorillas, a personal favourite.

Interesting that our numbers are indeed the exact same, although in terms of the exact collections on the list, there is quite the difference; I have never been to Eagle Heights, British Wildlife Centre or Hanwell, and Southend-on-Sea didn't even feature on my 36, presumably because I was using the neighbourhood of London that I live in as opposed to the city as a whole so as to get more accurate results. For the same reason, Leeds Castle (which I have visited) didn't appear either. The collections from my list that were missing from yours were the Horniman Museum, Battersea Park, Richmond Park, Chessington and Hertfordshire / Paradise WP. The other seven collections were exactly the same. :)

St. Louis Aquarium at Union Station (1.44 km) - visited a decent amount
Missouri Botanical Garden (6.18 km) - visited
Saint Louis Zoo (8.73 km) - visited more times than I can count
Grants Farm (16.53 km) - visited
Powder Valley Nature Center (22.19 km) - never visited
National Great Rivers Museum (27.27 km) - visited
Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House (30.86 km) - never visited, but I plan to soon
World Bird Sanctuary (31.6 km) - visited
Lone Elk County Park (31.85 km) - possibly visited? I don't remember
Treehouse Wildlife Center (42.24 km) - never visited

Looked again and the mistakes I found earlier already seem to be fixed. Quick work from them.

I have 14 collections listed within 50 Km.

From that list.
4 - Animal collections that I have visited.
3 - Collections that I haven't including 1 falconry place that I didn't previously know about.
2 - Farm related collections.
3 - Attractions that aren't primarily animal focused but have some animals (1 only lists 1 species).
2 - Educational establishments that offer animal care or management related courses.

Thought I would name the animal collections on my list.

The four I have visited are Beale Wildlife Park, Birdworld, Crocodiles of the World and Marwell Zoo.

The three I haven't visited are The Living Rainforest, The Hawk Conservancy and Millets Falconry Centre (which is the one I hadn't previously heard of).

The other interesting entry on my list is one of the places that isn't primarily an animal attraction, Legoland. From the species list it looks like they have a small aquarium.

I get six facilities, one I believe is closed (Eagle Valley) and I've never been to it

Kansas Wildlife Exhibit
Sedgwick County Zoo
Great Plains Nature Center
The Reptarium - Wichita Reptile Zoo
Tanganyika Wildlife Park
Eagle Valley Raptor Center

Interestingly, I do know of another zoo that is closer to me than any other, which I am yet to visit and is not listed on Zootierliste. Hopefully, I should be able to get there at some point in the near future.

Tell me what it is and I will add the zoo.

One of them is Houghton Hall which is actually 110km away in Norfolk.

I corrected it.

I updated it.

Not really a surprise considering the area covered by a circle with radius 75km is more than double that of a 50km circle

I'd thoroughly recommend a visit to the Hawk Conservancy if you like birds, there's a really good review of it by @Kalaw here

Hawk Conservancy Trust Walkthrough/Review [Hawk Conservancy Trust]

I went on a photo day a couple of weeks ago and found it to be a lovely place - lots of different birds including some rarities, well put together and varied flight / display areas, good wildlife meadow and grounds, passionate staff. The bird show where they fly multiple vultures, black kites etc all together at once is quite the sight and a real treat.

Have been to Millet's too and would recommend a trip there as while wood and wire there are well cared for birds and the flying displays are interesting.

Nothing within 50km. If I expand it to 100km,

Anderson (Ballyhoo Petting Zoo) - I'm only aware of this place from seeing its USDA inspection reports. Seems incredibly dodgy.
Greenville (Zoo) - This is my "home" zoo at a modest 81km away, lol. It's not great, but I still couldn't tell you how many times I've been here.
Hartwell (Lake Hartwell Wildlife Safari) - Heard of this place before. Seems like a mostly standard safari park. Maybe I'll visit someday.
Harlem (Feathered Friends Forever) - Looks like a parrot rescue. A great mission, of course, but not one that especially piques my interest, especially since they only offer tours on weekdays.
Lavonia (The Haven Zoo) - Looks to have literally just serval, a few common primates, and domestics. Pass.
Salley (Eudora Farms) - Visited here for the first time last weekend. It's a perfectly serviceable newer safari park, although I would love to see them bring in more species.
Columbia (Riverbanks Zoo and Garden) - My other "home" zoo, just under 100km away. Been here countless times as well.
Wellford (Hollywild Animal Park) - Not a good place. They're only open around the holidays, and while their festive lights provide immense nostalgia, their animal welfare is just abhorrent.

So of 8, I've visited 4, knew about an additional 2, and was not even aware of two others.

There seems to be some discrepancy regarding the location of zoos on the zoo radius search feature. Delhi zoo is marked as being in south india

Just stumbled across this thread so thought I'd join in. Within 50 km of my front door 24 collections are listed, of which I've visited 18, and one (Akamba) has recently closed its doors for good. The others seem to be farm parks with a handful of exotics.
