Bronx has some nice information about each individual gorillas in one of the two gorilla exhibits.

chrisbarela- Thank you for including your thoughts on what zoos should do to make signage more appealing to read, and I love the example signs!
Below are five examples of signage that I've seen and enjoy; the first two are at the Maritime Aquarium, numbers three and four are at Beardsley Zoo, and the last is at the Bronx.
Example 1: Guests are encouraged to stand near a touchscreen next to the giant wall featured in this photo. The touchscreen asks questions about animals in a certain habitat in Long Island Sound, and guests must choose the correct animal. The correct animal will be shown on the wall. While it may not exactly be signage, it is very hands-on.
Example 2: Guests see side-by-side plates that have a slab of fish on it, and the guest flips the plate over to see which one is the better choice to eat, considering the fish's conservation status or manner that fish is acquired in. These teach guests about sustainable seafood.
Example 3: A hand-painted sign explains how prairie dog colonies are an important part of the grasslands ecosystem of North America. While I find this sign attractive, more guests would probably look at it if each species that relies on prairie dogs had a flap over it, and guests would flip it over and read how that certain animal needs prairie dogs.
Example 4: Guests slide the "X" which reveals a product or resource that comes from the rainforest. The public realizes that if the rainforest is not saved, they might not be able to use thtese everyday objects often taken for granted.
Example 5: Through "fossils", the public realizes how pre-humans and humans lived side-by-side with Geladas for years and have evolved together, for millions of years. The use of skulls is a huge bonus, as what kid does not enjoy touching a skull?

That interactive display was part of the refurbishment that finished in early 2012, so it's been there since spring 2012.
