Visited the zoo yesterday just thought id update everybody with a few things. The female cheetah is now out in the southern enclosure the three males were all paying her close attention even though they didnt have access to her. There is a picture of her in the gallery. We saw Kirana holding on to the roof netting getting her own food in RORA being closly watched by Subis and Budi. We also saw Sariki and her new baby, ive uploaded some pictures apoligies for the quality of some of the picture but sariki was right at the bottom of the enclosure as the keepers were doing checks on her. There are now stick insects in the tropical realm which i think are new as i can't remember ever seeing them before. Also Ema has been moved into the paddock behind the Warthogs and Mongoose enclosure she is due to give birth in the next six weeks again there are picture of her in the gallery. Also outside there was work going on I was told by a member of staff that they are trailing and automatic turnstyle for members and online ticket purchases. The chimpanzees were again inside there was quite a few of them but nowhere near as many as usual the presenter wasnt sure why they were not outside. The new barbirussa/otter closure is really coming along and looks like it should be ready in the next few weeks.

Which enclosure was Sarikei in when you saw her?

Hasn't Ema always been in that paddock? Or at least the connected one next door... She hasn't been in the Tsavo buildings as far as I know...

I think she is usually in the one next door to where she is now. As its the first time ive saw her outside.

Am not surprised as it will be easier for the keepers to manage Ema and the calf in there.

That would make sense, was looking at it and was wondering what they were doing there.

Construction seems to have halted on this, the last few weeks of visiting the enclosure hasn't changed much.

The new stick insects are Peruvian Black Velvet Stick Insect (Peruphasma schultei). It was only discovered by science in 2002 and I saw my first specimens last year at Whipsnade.
