I spent the day at the zoo today and as usual I have come away with a long list of questions.

1. Where are all the spotted deers gone? I could only count 2.

2. Is the renovated chimp enclosure extending right down to where the barbary sheep were? I hope not. Although the sheep exihibit wasn't the most eye pleasing, I do love watching the sheep and I hope they return to being on display.

3. What is going on behind the tahr mountain and old red panda exhibits?

4. When is the new entrance precinct opening?

5. Why is the house at backyard to bush closed? Is it just a spruce up or is it getting new exhibits?

6. When are the lemurs going on display?

3.Scenic boardwalk

4.Supposedly end of March

I got a letter from the zoo the other day that stated the entrance was due to open yesterday. (29/3/2011.) I am on leave from work next week so I probably might go check it out.

I have a suspicion that Melbourne will get a similar entrance overhaul in the near future. I remember the idea being on the cards many years ago and with the way zoos play catchup (and Adelaide and Taronga now having done new entrances) and the gorilla grottoes and old baboon cages soon to be empty....

I hope they do. I only saw the gorilla grotto the other day and I have to say it looks ugly and tiny. Maybe Melbourne could incorporate the gorilla enclosure so you can sit in a cafe and gaze over the enclosure through a new glass window.
