Is there a date set ? I was thinking on maybe going this weekend.

The expanded takin enclosure is supposed to be officially opened on June 16th. A takin bull will hopefully arrive then, and after he gets accustomed, the first goral should arrive later this year.

Just scroll upward a bit... it didn't really look finished when I visited a couple of days ago though, so I'm not entirely sure they will manage it.

Yes, but as I suspected, it is not completely finished. Only 2 of the 4 takins have access to it, the others are still in the old exhibit since the two aren't connected yet (they are still working on that part). Besides, the takin bull also hasn't arrived yet, he will come from Beauval/France at a later date.

Four red river hogs were born in the night of April 28th.

Grüner Zoo Wuppertal

The sex of the 4 young has been determined last month, 2 males and 2 females.

On the 23rd of May male South African elephant (Loxodonta africana africana) Tooth moved to Ouwehands Dierenpark (NL)

Sadly on the 1st of June 18,5-year old male Siberian tiger (Panthera tigris altaica) Wassja was euthanised. At the moment Wuppertal only has a 17,5-year old female named Mymoza left. Eventually a new pair of tigers will arrive at the zoo.

Recently a pair of Edwards's pheasants (Lophura edwardsi) arrived at the zoo, the 1-year old male came from Karlsruhe and the female from a private breeder (The World Pheasant Association). They can be found in the kookaburra enclosure.
