Holmes Chapel based Zoo2U finally got the go-ahead to open. On Wednesday 31st of July Cheshire Easts Southern planning committee unanimously approved the application from Zoo2U to be based at The Orchards Farm in Holmes Chapel. This went against the planning officers recommendation to refuse the proposal . The approval was a significant departure from policy.
Anybody know anything about Zoo2U?

A little bit of info on Zoo2U in second article, follow link at bottom of this article.

As far as I'm aware, Zoo2U hold a number of small mammals, herps and birds that they bring along to children's birthday parties, groups and schools as part of demonstrations.

The planning officers have said that it would change the appearance and character of the area, would indicate to me that new building, and or buildings were being planned for, so are the Zoo2U owners looking at housing larger animals?

I expect it's just offices and a few cages. This isn't likely to be a zoo for visiting and doesn't really concern this site.

The information so far, clearly says, plans for a zoo, if it will be open to the public, who knows at this stage

Zoo 2U has been granted a zoo licence. I will be surprised if they are only thinking of keeping their current animals, without adding more species, which you actually need a licence for as the animals enclosures they are planning are going to be "spacious ". They are hoping to open the doors to the public soon.

The future of the zoo hangs in the balance after animal rights campaigners won a legal challenge to have the planning permission overturned. The director of Freedom for Animals said " it's our position that this zoo and zoos in general cannot be justified on animal welfare grounds. Thanks to Advocates for Animals the decision by Cheshire East Council has been overturned ". This means that the council will have to consider the application again.
I find this very concerning that this could create a untold problems for future new zoo applications.
