Psittacidae. A wonderful, colorful branch of the avian family tree. They have been adored by humans for their ability to speak, and for their playfulness and their beauty. I hope to just get this thread as my first ZooChat Photographic Guide, and have it be worthy of the expectations of threads done before it.

Psittaciformes
THREE LINEAGES:

PSITTACIDAE- 75 GENERA, 375 SPECIES
CACATUIDAE- 7 GENERA, 21 SPECIES

I've made some minor formatting edits to keep these posts "in line" with the style already established - try to maintain this, as we cannot keep fixing it for you :P

You can't just make assumptions that a zoo has a given subspecies even if it is within that range, especially when it is with such a widely-kept bird as Red-tailed Black Cockatoos. Apart for their naso, all Taronga's birds are treated as non-subspecific.

Ok, can you delete that image?

This time, yes - but as I said above, we cannot keep fixing things for you; take your time and make sure each post is ready to go and matches the established standard before you hit submit :) this will be a massive undertaking given how many parrot species there are, so we want it to be done well after all!

Nestor - 3 species

So I assume you include extinct species (Nestor productus) into the species counting. I think that all the other photographic guide threads only count extant species when giving number of them in a wider taxon.
