Fingers crossed it sticks around until January 1st so you can pop it onto your 2014 list too!
We are in the final hours of the Big Year competition. Who will win? It's anybody's guess. Granted, anybody is putting their money on Chlidonias...
I figured I was probably done for the year after returning from Arizona. However, over the weekend a couple of Golden-crowned Sparrow were found at the Christmas Bird Count. So this morning I headed out to the ponds at which they were found. There is still snow on the ground, but the sun was out and it was pleasantly warm. I spent a good long time sorting through enormous flocks of White-crowned Sparrows but I was able to track down my bird. This makes it a complete collection of North American Zonotrichia sparrows for the year!
