With Furcifer also seen, I have now seen all three chameleon genera here. Both Stenophis species are worth googling as they are very cool nocturnal snakes.

No new mammals for the list, although I saw a tuft-tailed rat, my first native rodent, but exact species will remain unknown...

I spent last night at Redbank Homestead, which is about 50kms outside of Bourke oon the Louth/Wilcannia road. It's on the banks of the Darling River, with some rather steep slopes. Yesterday evening I sent a couple of hours birdwatching along the river, and again this morning from 7:00 - 10:00.

Birds
110. Black-fronted Dotterel
111. Mallee Ringneck
112. Mulga Parrots

7. Gould's Monitor (seen crossing the road between Bourke and Byrock)

Mammals
7. Wallaroo
8. Red Kangaroo
9. Red Fox
10. Echidna (found 20 metres frm the front door!)

I'm currently on the road and can't check my records, so the bird list might need a bit of tweaking once i get home in a day or two. But if it's not right, it's pretty close.

Thanks for pointing that out. I'm home again and just realised I had one extra, and I've amended that post. Actually, I thought there might have been other double listings, but there's not.

Unfortunately there was a very strong wind blowing, so everything was taking cover and very hard to see. I think I got 3 or 4 different waders (excluding the avocets, which were in the hundreds). Didn't see the wagtails either.

121 Lesser Black-backed Gull - Larus fuscus
122 Neotropic Cormorant - Phalacrocorax brasilianus

I went on a bird walk with a group from the local Audobon Society this morning. I was able to pick up loads of good birds including my best ever looks at Common Merganser, Horned Grebe, Swamp Sparrow, and the lifer Lesser Black-Backed Gull.

I was able to add one more bird today. A good one for the region. in fact a really good one. This bird had not been seen in the region in approximately 15 years and had never been spotted in Tarrant Country (Fort Worth region), so the local birding community was up and active today. A once ever 15 year bird is a big deal. Especially when it's an Arctic sea duck in North Texas.

123 Black Scoter - Melanitta americana

Birds
128. Sharp-tailed Sandpiper
129. Eastern Curlew
130. Black-tailed Godwit
