Let's do it again!

I know I'm a day early in this post, but it'll soon be 2015 in parts of the world.

Get your binoculars, spotting scopes, birding guides, and cameras ready.

Let's bird!

Here are the links for the previous two years:

Despite being stuck inside due to some atrocious weather up here in Northumberland, I still managed to get a few year-birds in.....

1) Eurasian blue tit (Cyanistes caeruleus)
2) Great tit (Parus major)
3) Common chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs)
4) European goldfinch (Carduelis carduelis)
5) Dunnock (Prunella modularis)

An odd first day, as I was at a friends for a NYE party last night and as everyone stayed over I didn't leave the house to get the train home until it was already just beginning to get dark (and raining). So there is just a short selection of 'noticeable' species to start the year:

1. Carrion Crow - Corvus corone
2. European Blackbird - Turdus merula
3. Black-headed Gull - Chroicocephalus ridibundus
4. European Buzzard - Buteo buteo

1. Eastern Grey Squirrel - Sciurus carolinensis

Unfortunately, didn't manage to add any other new birds today. I did however get a rather nice new mammal in the garden:

2. Reeve's muntjac Muntiacus reevesi
