A train journey got me some nice views of this lovely species:

4. Brown Hare Lepus europaeus

Added a couple of species on an unexpected weekend in Budapest (we were planing on a different trip but the gods of aeroplanes had other ideas and we had to change plans at very short notice. Luckily we're spoiled for choice in Europe for interesting and affordable weekend zoo trips!).

140. Ring-necked Parakeet - Psittacula krameri
141. Green Woodpecker - Picus viridis

14. House Mouse - Mus musculus
15. Wood Mouse - Apodemus sylvaticus

Nothing I couldn't have seen back in the UK, but nice to have some Hungarian entries on the list!

I also need to add a species from much closer to home - driving back in the dark last night, and only about 15 minutes from the end of my journey, my headlights suddenly illuminated the unmistakeable form of a mammalian lifer snuffling in full view on the verge:

16. Eurasian Badger - Meles meles

:)

Just realised I haven't updated my list on here for a few weeks. My ninetieth bird was seen along the motorway on the way back from a uni reunion in Cambridge:

90. Red kite Milvus milvus (Nt)

The next was on a very poor visit to Abberton Reservoir:

91. Egyptian goose Alopochen aegyptiacus

But had a very good visit to Old Hall Marshes RSPB reserve this morning, with six new species for the year list:

92. Northern pintail Anas acuta
93. Rock pipit Anthus petrosus
94. Common linnet Linaria cannabina
95. Barn owl Tyto alba
96. Ruff Philomachus pugnax
97. Western marsh harrier Circus aeruginosus

I have now seen 10 out of Britain's 22 bird species that are classified as being above 'Least Concern' on the IUCN Red List.

Managed to find the time to take a walk down the road this afternoon - as well as some very nice local species that I have already seen this year including goldcrest, kingfisher and three goosander (a local patch lifer), I also managed to add one new bird for the year:

98. Yellowhammer Emberiza citrinella

Managed to see mammal number five this afternoon hunting among flowerpots in my back garden - a very special treat considering I have not seen one locally for quite some time.

5. Least weasel Mustela nivalis

I have seen one new mammal since the last update, as well as a couple of corner-of-the-eye sightings of what may have been either a vole or weasel.

6. Wood mouse Apodemus sylvaticus

Also forgot to mention that last week I saw my first amphibian species for the year:

1. Smooth newt Lissotriton vulgaris

Another one that I missed off from Kenya:
245) Lesser Striped Swallow

And finally something from Poland (from Friday):
246) Common Pheasant

Due to certain circumstances, I haven't had the time or opportunity to go out birding, though I hope to be able to this weekend.

In the meantime though, here are my final updates from Kenya, only just over a month late :p

247) Brimstone Canary
248) Speckle-fronted Weaver
249) Cape Teal
250) Pallid Harrier
251) Red-capped Lark
252) Rufous-naped Lark

I haven't yet counted this bird http://www.zoochat.com/810/id-please-438716/ because I'm not 100% on the ID. However I'm still hoping to get a solid ID.
