Final two from Costa Rica

396 Black-crowned Tityra - Tityra inquisitor
397 Yellow-green Vireo - Vireo flavoviridis

In total, I added 80 lifers and 94 birds total on the year.

How long were you there for?

What was #304 - it doesn't seem to be listed.

:p

I was there for five full days. Got in very late on Sunday and left very early on Saturday.

Must have missed 304. It was a Cassin's Sparrow - Peucaea cassinii on June 12th.

Invertebrates (all butterflies today):
67. Dark Green Fritillary - Argynnis aglaja
68. High Brown Fritillary - Argynnis adippe
69. Northern Brown Argus - Aricia artaxerxes

70. Common Blue - Polyommatus icarus
71. Grayling - Hipparchia semele
72. Large Heath - Coenonympha tullia

75. Bright-line Brown-eye - Lacanobia oleracea
76. Blue Emperor - Anax imperator
77. Black-tailed Skimmer - Orthetrum cancellatum
78. Six-spot Burnet - Zygaena filipendulae

Just realised I never posted invertebrates '73' and '74' - these were butterfly species newly-identified from Botswana (quite distinctive species, but not in my book so took a little longer!):

73. Crimson Tip - Colotis danae
74. Natal Barred Blue - Cigaritis natalensis

These are actually numbers 19 and 23, so 72 (Large Heath) is now 74, hence my last post running 75-78.

Simple. :D

Birds
69) Northern House Wren Troglodytes aedon

Birds
70) Eastern Towhee Pipilo erythrophthalmus
71) Orchard Oriole Icterus spurius

Amphibians
10) American Bullfrog Lithobates catesbeianus

We also found a couple of yellow warblers with olive-green backs. Definitely weren't Yellow Warblers. We were thinking female Hooded Warblers but the calls matched more with Wilson's Warblers. Problem is that species shouldn't be here, at least not this time of year (though obviously doesn't mean it wasn't). Anyone have any thoughts or more knowledge as to whether any Wilson's have been spotted in CT recently?

A new mammal for the year from Basel Zoo

52. Greater white-toothed shrew

Outside of our little contest, John Weigel, who I believe holds the Aussie big year record, just broke the American big year record - and still has over 5 months to go.
