ZooChat Big Year 2018

I had a fantastic day in the Biesbosch recently. The waders unfortunately were too few and too distant to identify (except the easy ones like avocets, lapwings and oystercatchers). But the songbirds and gulls made up for that, along with a fantastic view of an osprey. Some inverts and a mammal were seen prior to the trip.

For anyone who sees that the number of inverts is off, I made a identification mistake on one of the leaf beetles so that one was removed. A beetle, a frog and several molluscs await further identification.

Another very succesful morning of birding today, bringing me the first little bitterns of the year and a few other very nice species! In fact, while none of the birds are lifers I've only seen all three of these once in my life (all last year), and none of them particularly well.

I saw Musky Rat-kangaroos at Lake Barrine, QLD (travel thread) and Common Wombats on three separate occasions: on the way from Dharug NP to Walkabout Wildlife Park, NSW, at Bunyip State Park and outside Cranbourne Botanic Gardens, VIC (travel thread - yet to be finished)
