Some very rare species seen over the last few days: (not really)

1062) Red Kite
1063) Carrion Crow
1064) Rose-ringed Parakeet
1065) Canada Goose

196) Eastern Grey Squirrel

Some rather nice additions from a bit of birding last weekend from a site just outside Oxford which I suppose is now the closest thing I have to a local patch for most of the year:

1066) Egyptian Goose (not sure what the introduced status of this species is likely to be around Oxford, but I think it's probably countable)
1067) Redwing (I think the last time I saw this species was 2015)
1068) Lesser Black-backed Gull
1069) Long-tailed Tit
1070) Merlin

1066) Egyptian Goose (not sure what the introduced status of this species is likely to be around Oxford, but I think it's probably countable)

Yeah, Egyptian Geese have a widespread self-sustaining population in the UK, so unless you saw them mixed with other waterfowl you know or suspect to be captive then they're perfectly legitimate*.

*well, as legitimate as a species living on the wrong continent is ever going to be..!

More to come as I go through my photos and ID stuff/remember species I didn't write down as I went. @Chlidonias any magic sources for hare subspecies? When I Googled them I just kept getting a list of 15 (up to 30 for older sources) but no distributions. Animal was seen on a train from Jihlava to Prague.

@Chlidonias right you are, obviously. When I started making this above post I forgot about the woodpecker split and quoted the previous post. I then remembered about the split and fixed which post was quoted, but then forgot to updated the numbers despite making a mental note to.

In any case I got a new addition the other day that I genuinely cannot believe has remained missing for so long (unless of course I missed it during my quick skim of my list thus far...):

190) Belted Kingfisher Megaceryle alcyon
