Finally, I had a big day (for city standards) - went out to the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, which is within Mumbai's city limits, with some more seasoned birders this morning. Saw a decent number of species, including some winter migrants from Europe/Central Asia and one fantastic raptor.

Mammals:
3. Bonnet macaque (Macaca radiata)
4. Southern Plains grey langur (Semnopithecus dussumieri)
5. Chital (Axis axis)

Birds:
16. Spotted dove (Spilopelia chinensis)
17. Pale-billed flowerpecker (Dicaeum erythrorhynchos)
18. Asian palm swift (Cypsiurus balasiensis)
19. Rosy starling (Pastor roseus)
20. Plum-headed parakeet (Psittacula cyanocephala)
21. Golden-fronted leafbird (Chloropsis aurifrons)
22. Greenish warbler (Phylloscopus trochiloides)
23. Purple sunbird (Cinnyris asiaticus)
24. Ashy drongo (Dicrurus leucophaeus)
25. Long-tailed shrike (Lanius schach)
26. Oriental magpie-robin (Copsychus saularis)
27. Indian silverbill (Euodice malabarica)
28. Green bee-eater (Merops orientalis)
29. Yellow-throated sparrow (Gymnoris xanthocollis)
30. White-bellied sea eagle (Haliaeetus leucogaster) - an excellent #30!!!!!
31. Racket-tailed drongo (Dicrurus paradiseus)
32. Greater coucal (Centropus sinensis)
33. Little cormorant (Microcarbo niger)
34. Little egret (Egretta garzetta)

That sea eagle was a real nice surprise. It was almost the end of our session, and I saw what I thought was one of our many black kites soaring at a distance. But then I noticed the white face and thought it might be a Brahminy kite. Shouted out to the others and one of them gasped just seconds before it came close enough for us to see that spectacular white-and-black coloration. It is a highly erratic species in the Mumbai area... fortunately, I got a picture.

Finally saw some more birds at a feeder while at my friends house.

Birds
2) Black-Capped Chickadee Poecile atricapillus
3) House Finch Haemorhous mexicanus
4) White-Breasted Nuthatch, Sitta carolinensis

A few more from this weekend, mostly from today, spent working my way from Rother Valley Country Park down to Attenborough in Nottingham via a couple of twitchable novelties on the way. Slightly tactical as I had the option of going north from Rother Valley or south - probably would have added a similar number of species on the northern option but there would have been fewer rarities, so I was playing the long game. In a classic example of the perversity of wildlife, I'd been struggling to find Goldcrest, normally common in these parts, all month, with no joy - until, that is, I'm peering into a bush trying to find a (very much rarer) Firecrest, when suddenly the local Goldcrest is front-and centre...

(fortunately the Firecrest soon showed itself as well!)

Birds:
83. Willow Tit - Poecile montanus
84. Common Kingfisher - Alcedo atthis
85. Smew - Mergellus albellus
86. Pink-footed Goose - Anser brachyrhynchus
87. Hooded Crow - Corvus cornix
88. Bohemian Waxwing - Bombycilla garrulus
89. Goldcrest - Regulus regulus

2. Northern Pike - Esox lucius
