ZooChat Big Year 2020

Last Friday morning I had a couple of Jays in the garden . Then soon after , on the cliffs and village of Pennard on nearby Gower , I had a couple of Chough , a pair of Raven and multiple Carrion Crow , Jackdaw , Magpie and Rook . No Hoodies around here unfortunately , I have in the past seen them in Pembrokeshire .
I've seen Chough at Pennard I think. That's where there are notices on the cliffs advising against rockclimbing in order not to disturb?

from today
170 common pochard Aythya ferina
171
Northen goshawk
i think the gosehaw mite have had a nest close as i saw two doing flight displays and making noises from the forest

40. Green Woodpecker, Picus viridis

8. Red Fox, Vulpes vulpes

Possibly , there are big cliffs towards Three Cliffs Bay , might also be around Fall Bay and Mewslade which are close to Rhossili . Chough are now found all along the South Gower coast with several pairs breeding . I rarely visit Rhossili without getting good close views .

I believe there are still only three to four pairs breeding on the Gower. I have seen them near Worms Head/Rhosseli Beach also. The place I was referring to has large houses along one side of the road, and open cliffs on the other. I think its Pennard.

Too many lists, I've been doubling up and the two species below is that both were seen in January near here. So this brings me back to 258. Surprised it passed the eagle eyes of @Chlidonias, though. Last Sri Lanka post, I promise.

259. Wood sandpiper Tringa glareola

A few casual observations since returning:

Moonlit Sanctuary:

259. Australasian shoveler Spatula rhynchotis

106. Budgerigar. ( this is my favourite bird this year and will be hard to beat. It's a bird I haven't seen too often in the wild and was really pleased to see in my home town. The river that flows through town is in flood after a severe drought out here and the bush it is loving it. )

I went looking for Middle Spotted Woodpecker in a park close-by, but did not find any, I did see two other less common, but very pretty, woodland birds though.

69. Eurasian bullfinch
70. Eurasian siskin
