ZooChat Big Year 2020

Went back through camera photos finally and have some that didn't get added from the last two weeks of the year:

Red-necked Grebe (Podiceps grisegena)
Pigeon Guillemot (Cepphus columba)
Common Loon (Gavia immer)
Barrow's Goldeneye (Bucephala islandica)

I was interested to look at the number of pages each years Big Year thread took up, to see if it was declining or increasing in popularity. It seems the former:

2020 78 pages
2019 69 pages
2018 69 pages
2017 46 pages
2016 49 pages
2015 49 pages
2014 54 pages
2013 46 pages

Interesting in that for obvious reasons there were very few "epic" international trips in 2020 compared with previous years. Were more members involved during 2020? Or did we all just chat more because there was nothing else to do?

You know that while you were looking up the number of pages in each thread you could have also counted the number of members in the thread (using the tallies at the end of each year), and saved me having to do it! :p

I just looked at the bird lists because almost everyone posting is doing birds regardless of whichever other categories they list:

2020: 42 members
2019: 37 members
2018: 31 members
2017: 26 members
2016: 23 members
2015: 22 members
2014: 18 members
2013: I wasn't doing the tallies the first year, so I don't know the full totals.

I figured it'd be interesting also to calculate the average number of pages per member based on those numbers:

2020: 1.86
2019: 1.86
2018: 2.23
2017: 1.77
2016: 2.13
2015: 2.23
2014: 3

So in general, there seems to be an upwards trend of more, but (slightly) less active participating members? I'm not sure if the dataset is really enough for this to be anything other than statistical noise though.
