The warmer weather the last few days is bringing out the insects in full swing, although no butterflies or dragonflies yet. Today had a surprise visit from 6 of the local Mute Swan population dropping in on my neighborhood pond. There is a small but stable and breeding population that moves around my area, present quite a long time.

I evidently should have waited to post today. The hooting of an owl brought my attention and as I gazed out the window, wishing I could see some nocturnal creature. Miraculously, a small head poked itself out from underneath my neighbor's downspout, and an Opossum squeezed through the fence and into my yard. Now, all I have left are white-tailed deer, red foxes, eastern chipmunk, and perhaps a muskrat for commonly seen mammals in my area (Other than the ever elusive bat and rodent IDs)

Mammals:
4. Virginia Opossum (Didelphis virginiana)

83. Song Sparrow Melospiza melodia

Mammals
8. Woodchuck Marmota monax
More signs of spring:

Just to get me on the board. Still haven't had time to actually go out looking for anything :(

Mammals
1. Eurasian Red Squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris)
2. Bank Vole (Myodes glareolus)

At Moonlit Sanctuary

Reptiles
15. Lowland copperhead Austrelaps superbus

We see copperheads around at Moonlit on a regular basis, although you are generally lucky to see the flick of a tail as it retreats into the bush. This one was crossing a grassed opening about 3 metres across. It crossed in bright sunlight and I was standing about 2 metres away. It looked fantastic shimmering with coppery tones in the sunlight.

26. Red-winged blackbird

5. Chinese mystery snail

And a new phylum but not a narrowed down species (yet),
0. Nematoda, Nematodes. Got some photos so I will post once my camera charges.
