By checking Zootierliste and the sign I saw on the enclosure of the Aardvark-Spring hare enclosure I missed only one species, the Senegal galago but I hope to see this one later this year - at Antwerp or at another collection.

@zoogiraffe, I saw you listed Black and White Ruffed Lemur (37) and Belted Ruffed Lemur (52). Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't those still seen as subspecies of the same species, Varecia variegata?
If the first post wasn't clear, to avoid confusion and debates over whether or not subspecies are valid or not, I believe it's best if we keep it to species-level only.
Either way, I visited 3 zoos this weekend - Apenheul, Burgers' Zoo and Blijdorp, and was able to add another few species to my list. Won't be counting the species seen in Apenheul as this was during a special winter tour, only accessible to subscription-holders who booked a special ticket in advance.

Who knows, maybe the long-awaited research demonstrating those two are distinct at species level - along with Southern Ruffed, which isn't around in captivity - will be published before the year is out....
If that does happen I'd very much like to hear it, as I should be seeing both of those subspecies tomorrow!

This challenge of course also has rules, with credits to Shorts:
1. You have to actually see the animal, even if just for a second. You don't score if you visit a collection but don't see the animal (harsh, but fair);
2. Proof via photographs is not required, your word is your bond;
3. You have to see the animal via normal public access (i.e. not including zookeeper for the day or photography days behind the scenes) during normal public opening hours (i.e. no scoring because you know the keeper and can get access before/after hours). Basically the species has to be seen as Joe Public would;
4. Only collections located in what is geographically Europe will count in this challenge (including Iceland, the UK, Ireland, the Mediterranean islands, but excluding Georgia, Russia, Azerbaijan and Turkey to avoid conflicts about what is and isn't 'Europe.')
5. Report/update your progress on this thread as you go along;
6. The winner will be deemed to be the person(s) who's seen the most at 31st December 2016;
7. My (final) decision is final but I'm open to discussion and debate on any specific points.
This challenge is solely for fun and sadly I won't be able to offer the winner an actual prize. Most of all, I hope everyone has a great time!

A visit to Burgers Zoo - Arnhem - the Netherlands gave me 4 more species :

Saw also the other primates : nice group of Gorillas with one very pregnant female, Chimps and Ring-tailed lemurs but missed the Golden-bellied mangabeys and the Golden-cheeked gibbons
.It was quite cold that day and all monkeys were indoors and I couldn't find the indoor-enclosures of those both species, even don't know if they are visuable for the public.
For the Golden-bellied mangabey's I already was affraid this would be the case and we ( devilfish and I ) already thought the Golden-cheeked gibbons would be in that building, but I guess they used the none-visible-area very well !
